I'm aware. That's why I was implying that if EA wasn't publishing Rage, than Activision probably would be. And I, personally, hate Activision.

and seriously, id didnt do much lately ... thats probably why activision dropped it lol (remind you, activision IS the worlds biggest publisher ...)
I don't think that Activision "dropped" id exactly. I mean, they're still publishing Wolfenstein, for instance (which id isn't developing, but is involved with). I'm thinking that the reason they're not publishing Rage is simply because they probably lost the publisher bidding war for it.

next step DOOM RPG
That was already been done years ago, actually. It's on mobile phones, and is actually quite cool:
thats its name ... (its actually Activision + vivendi games , which was the holdings company for Sierra Entertainment and Blizzard Entertainment.)
Quote:
Vivendi Games owned the rights to such popular franchises as Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and World of Warcraft (all games developed by Blizzard Entertainment) as well as others like Empire Earth, Leisure Suit Larry, Ground Control and Tribes and Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon owned by Sierra Entertainment. It is now merged with Activision and is known as Activision Blizzard.
and Activision Blizzard IS the #1 publisher, in sales , net worth etc
Quote:
In December 2007, it was announced that Activision would merge with Vivendi Games which owns fellow games developer and publisher Blizzard, and the merger would later close in July 2008. The new company is called Activision Blizzard and is headed by Activision's former CEO, Robert Kotick. Vivendi is the biggest shareholder in the new group. [20] The new company is estimated to be worth $18.9 billion, ahead of Electronic Arts who is valued at $14.1 billion.
Human Head studios that developed Prey, was founded by 6 ex-Raven Software guys. Raven Software is a company that has close ties to iD and has worked a lot with iD. Maybe ZeniMax/iD will ask HumanHead to make another Prey game for them, in the same fashion that Raven worked for iD and Splash Damage did.
[some reading later...] Actually there was news that a Prey 2 is already in development by HumanHead and whilst it was going to be published by 3D Realms, it was passed onto a "brand creation and portfolio management" company called Radar Group, founded by Scott Miller from 3D Realms. Sooo it kind of looks like Radar Group has either sold the license to ZeniMax and left or are still onboard managing something to with the project.
As to wether or not HumanHead is still developing Prey 2, I have no idea. Either way Prey's portal idea was done one better by Portal, so I wanna see them one up that. Still It was a fun fps.

John Carmack Fires Back at ZeniMax With His Own Lawsuit
Quote:
Oculus VR chief technology officer John Carmack is suing his former employer ZeniMax Media for more than $22.5 million USD.
The lawsuit claims ZeniMax, which was revealed to have purchased id for $150 million, didn't pay Carmack the final installment he claims he is owed.
According to a report by the Dallas News, Carmack "received a convertible promissory note valued at more than $45.1 million," from the sale of id to ZeniMax in 2009.
Carmack converted half his shares in id into ZeniMax stock, and the other half is the subject of the lawsuit.
The lawsuit seeks to force ZeniMax to pay Carmack the rest, saying "sour grapes is not an affirmative defense to breach of contract."
ZeniMax and Facebook were embroiled in a legal battle, the outcome of which saw ZeniMax come out on top. Facebook was ordered to pay ZeniMax $500 million USD, a fraction of what ZeniMax attorney Anthony Sammi said was owed. Sammi argued Facebook should have paid a total of $4 billion.
seems odd for zenimax to NOT pay what it owed... seems even stranger that carmack would just.. not worry about 20-something million bucks UNTIL he gets his ass in trouble? very strange.
Not really. It has no doubt been brewing away in the background for years. His lawyer/s likely told him to hold off until after the Zenimax-Oculus trial was resolved.
