You could also just isodemo it and try for yourself. Nothing stops you from buying it once you know that you enjoy it.

I came with little to no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised... but then again I'm a sucker for roguelikes.

I think that if you like dead cells, chances are very good you'll enjoy Hades. Seems to be based on similar design principles - some very light meta-progression, but what you really see changing is your skill in the game. It's quite satisfying to beat bosses without much effort, when the first few encounters ended your run.

One thing to note about Hades is that it has surprising depth and reveals more of its mechanics as the game goes on.

(I enjoyed Dead Cells for a while, but out of the two I personally would rate Hades higher.)

Game has a fun story mode and the variety makes it fun, I bought it for the switch after the ISO demo, I say buy it, the devs did a wonderful job on this masterpiece!

One of the few games of its kind I actually liked. I probably didn't see most of it, but what I have played was great.

Hades is probably my GOTY this year. An amazing experience with the best soundtrack in the last couple of years.

Same I think. I still have things to see in it after 45 hours I'm pretty sure. I'd say Hellpoint is mine as I really loved that game (maybe if they put more effort into boss fights), but I'd be lying as Hades deserves it even more. Every Supergiant game I've played has been GOTY material for me. I have yet to touch Pyre though.

All I can say about Hades is that I personally hope Supergiant one day goes back to making another proper story-driven action-adventure that doesn't revolve around the rinse 'n repeat loop. I perfectly understand its appeal and huge success though sadly
