Not much of an analysis, it's just that it's the future and you see soldiers firing ineffective nerf guns which just bounce around. Huh?

The SW universe never had any logic, so asking why troopers can't aim is irrelevant. They serve only one purpose, to show how awesomely awesome the main characters are.

this show would be really great if they would depart themselfs from the star wars checkboxes, but instead jon favreau chose the easier route. would have been that bad if storm troopers were actually good shooters? like you can have comedy and not be dumb.

My wife started watching it. I don't get it...
Its same same every episode: Of "Baby Groot/'Not the mama' Dino/[Insert Mischievous McGuffin here] of star wars" causes 'ahh how cute' problems for the straight man (as in comedy duo not sexual preference) just trying to do his job. Slap on some star wars nostalgia music and themes and you got the first season (or at least as much as I saw of it with her watching).
Maybe because I'm not into star wars at all, the premise of the show seems thin on it's own to me?

It's just how fantasy universes works, all of them. In games too. The equivalent in LOTR would be Orcs. It's cannon fodder for the heroes to kill off, we're not supposed to believe they're a serious threat, we know they'll die and we'll have some fun watching that happen.
Then there's the Uruk-Hai, in SW there's for example Dark Troopers, these are of course a more serious threat. It's just how it "has" to work, if Stormtroopers were a serious threat then why would we need Dark Troopers, if Orcs were super scary then we would not need Uruk-Hais.. its fun to have various enemies with various threat levels, it spices things up.
If you want a "realistic" Star Wars it would not be Star Wars and it would be pretty dumb to even do it in the SW universe. I would not mind seeing more "serious" sci-fi, but if i watch Star Wars i want it to feel like that and not like something new.

Uh, what? The music is nothing like we are used to for Star Wars. It shares nothing in common with previous movies or TV-series.

The burbs and bits I heard of the music that was the background ambient parts (not the in your face themed soundtrack parts..well not all of them them, the theme song is heavy with it in some parts) had notes, small sequences, swells, and instrumental cluster tonal bits that made me ask her "Is that star wars or something?" after hearing it from the other room a while and not able to QUITE put my finger on it, before I knew it was Mandalorian.
It's not straight Star wars cantina or New Hope soundtrack music for sure. But it has random bits of it's DNA tossed in enough I think to try to make the nostalgic connection without being obvious.

Still a bad ep for Derptroppers, they got beat up by an old man with a stick and a baby was tossing them around like rag dolls at the end completely fooking useless.

uh no. the original trilogy is not this dumb, even rogue one is more serious. the new trilogy as with the mandalorian have VERY marvel type like dumb jokes, the new modern disney stamp. you see two marvel movies with different characters its like same movie, same with this show.
but its not all bad with the mandalorian couse it does have some really great episodes but it also have mediocre at best ones, and these tend to be when plot is around star wars characters, like the episode with storm troopers and gina was shit, but first and second episode were great

Mandalorian is a hit among fans because it reminds of us the original trilogy more than anything.
Marvel dumb jokes? The series is almost completely void of any jokes, i don't think i can recall a single dumb joke in the latest episode. Please give examples.
SW always had some lighthearted / comic relief characters.

yes, the episodes with no star wars references are the closest in quality to original trilogy, the rest that do are in quality with new trilogy

the humour in original trilogy was subtle, here many moments are in your face, like have you not see for the 100 times how cute baby yoda is? yes some is subtle but very often is shoved in your face. was meant to say awkward situations that were supposed to be funny but were cringe like marvel.
the tone is just all over the place

I don't care what y'all think about the latest episode.
Spoiler: | Boba fucking Fett? Dark Troopers (thinking Dark Forces here)??? Kick ass..
I really liked this episode +1, it really gave me some of that classic Star Wars vibes. |

Wtf was this episode.
90% of it looked like some cheap shit we would see on YouTube. Wtf. And then it was by Rodriguez. This mother fucker can make utter shit look decent. Look at el mariachi.
Vfx cheap.
Fucked up lense effects on random ass shots.
Really poor editing.
Looks horrid.
Worst episode so far.
Awesome with what happened in it.
Very spaghetti.
But Jesus christ looked like a straight out of college kid directed it not someone with gear.

I'm curious if this series will bridge the gap between Ep. VI and Ep. VII. The "experiments" in one of the last episodes looked a bit like Snope, and with Boba saying "The empire is back" I'm wondering if that specific remaining part of the Empire turns out to become The New Order later on.
