I'm really not impressed with that trailer. Been looking forward to this ever since it was put up on KS, but in that trailer it looks like just another generic city builder with low-grade assets made in Unity.

Still going to give it a try because the KS promises and funding-tier-goals sounded rather neat, but I'm not overly optimistic.

It's literally the same footage from the 2017 trailer. Laughing What, they couldn't bother to encode something new?

aaaand this is why I pay no heed to any early access game, wake me up when it's finished. if it ever happens.

Also anyone knows a feature complete game that is similar? I'm in a management mood.

Banished and Dawn of Man seem to be the two that are the closest to this.

+1 for Dawn of Man. Updates come slowly but when they do, it gets more and more addicting.

PPL say they get through the present content in about 30-60 minutes tops. Totally worth the full AAA price tag. Laughing

Shaping up to be one of those "took the money and ran" dev teams.

The original KS goal for a key was 25EUR. They practically doubled the price, and on the steam forums they try to use this excuse.

The release price is consistent with what our backers contributed to get the public version of the game.
Yeah. No. Laughing

EDIT: first LP I found.

Holy shit, that stuttering.

Laughing That's 15 fps or something and the game looks like it's 10 years old.

DLed the rip. Performance wasn't as choppy as in that video, but that's the least of the problems. The available content is insulting to the words "bare minimum", as it doesn't even struggle itself over that low bar.

You can literally build every single available building in about 20 minutes, and some of them don't even fuction (milling stone, oven, well, tanning rack). You can build huts to house your villagers, and send them out to fish, which they can hang on drying racks. And that's about the extent of the current content.

One thing I do appreciate though is the free form building.

So much more satisfying than the grid based nonsense that is still way too prevalent in smaller city building games.

If they ever manage to finish it, then supposedly it will be more complex. DoM is rather simplistic. Way better right now, but it is still a simple game. Plus the mentioned free-form building system. That alone would elevate it above many other city builders. They just need to stick to it and finish it. But right now it's kinda dubious if they will.

The lack of content (even by EA standards) makes me feel like this is some last ditch effort to get some more funding, but they shot themselves in the foot with that ridiculous pricing.

EDIT: now I hear people say they are blocking people on twitter who criticise the price, and the longest price related thread on the steam forums was locked without explanation.

I really miss Totalbiscuit in situations like this. He'd tear them a new hole for this kind of shenanigans and a lot of people would hear about it.
