I send my premature thanks to all Early Access gamers that trawl through a buggy, unfinished product only so I can play the full thing once it's finished. Wink

I couldn't resist any longer so I fired up this game and 4h in it's definately scratching that itch, allthough missing some of the wonder of the first game, of course, since its similar.

But I'm stopping myself right now, because they're supposed to finish the game in the next month or so. At least I know I'll enjoy it again.

It is already very much playable and I didn't encounter any bugs either

I looked on their page, their forums etc. and there's no mention of a final release date beyond 2020. They're working on console ports as well (ie. ported from PC thankfully).

You mean this??

"Release Date: 30 Jan, 2019"

That was for Early Access a year ago. I did a search on the steam page and nowhere does it say 2020 except at the bottom, (C) 2020 Valve Corporation...

It has been on steam since 30th jan 2019.

edit: The story is beeing rewritten, its also the reason why it takes longer for the last update.

EA? Huh?

Meanwhile, ~2 hours ago, the latest review had this in it:
Quote:
I wasn't gonna install this game until the full release but read about the story changes and wanted to see what it's like right now before it's changed.

If they're getting ready for multiple story changes we're not going to see v1.0 anytime soon.

Doh. When I saw EA I instantly thought of "Electronic Arts" since that's their brand. I never considered it was short for Early Access. This forum is full of abbreviations I don't understand at times. Razz

Indeed, there were some pretty substantial changes back in November when the writer responsible for Subnautica's story and lore left and was replaced by Jill Murray (Shadow of the Tomb Rambo, ACIV - not a good sign Cool Face), which led to scrapping the old storyline and rewriting a new one.

Maybe they forgot to change the year?

Or there is no RD.

This is what really raised my eyebrows and made my jaw drop in horror:

It doesn't mean she's turning it into an alien dating sim (hopefully). Shifty Fellar

They've finally added the rebooted story, so the final release shouldn't be too far away (on paper):

I'm not really a fan of the new narrative style and exposition though if you know what I mean, I hope it's just a feeling and not another sad trombone in disguise.

I really don't want to spoiler myself on this game so I'm not watching any videos. But I'd rather there was only minimal narrative and more discovery.

Yes, winter 2022... Reaction

But seriously, most likely won't happen this year. Hopefully January next year.

Me too won't touch this or see anything about it until it gets 1.0. Was so glad and pleasantly surprised with the first game when I did that tho this time I have some knowledge what this one is about,

Seems very different, yeah. On the other hand, first one didn't have any talking/alive humans. Perhaps it'll make the world feel a bit less 'lonely'?
I could've lived without seeing your own character in cutscenes and hearing her ( Rolling Eyes Razz ) talking, though.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

you do realize "winter" is not the same in all countries, right? Wink In e.g Brazil it's during june-sept..

not really hyped, haven't seen anything that stands out in comparison to the original game, which was enough for me i think..

Everything I read without spoilers on reddit about this game seems to point at it beeing worse than the first one:

-less depth
-more narrative crap
-less exploration/smaller map

Conclusion: Its a subnautica lite.

So instead of epxanding on what made Subnautica such an amazing game, they decide do expand on the story.

But who knows, maybe the last update will bring the needed changes.

But thats what happened. They created more surface areas instead.
