Well, i'm bored and waiting for the bitcoin to figure out what it's doing so here we go.

Just like Dark Souls. But easily sorted, just gear up & spec better. I think i died like 10 times during my entire playthrough, and i'm by no means good at this type of game.
| Nodrim wrote: | | There's also the problem of animations with enemies that have poorly telegraphed attacks. |
What does this mean? Is it hard to anticipate enemy attacks or are they too predictable for you? If it's hard to anticipate, then i'd say that's a good thing, since it keeps the tension up when facing any of the yokai. If it's the latter then i don't understand your first point as you say the game is too difficult.
| Nodrim wrote: | | The level design wasn't even in my original post but I'll add it here anyway because it works hand in hand with the feeling of exploration and to an extent, the itemization |
What about the level design? This is entirely subjective. I for example enjoyed most of the settings, obviously not all of them, cause who wants to see yet another sewer/cave type place after 3 dark souls games and bloodborne. And for the most part, atmosphere clicked with me, as i hadn't dabbed in japanese folklore before, and the level design was interesting enough for me to remember nice set pieces almost half a year after i've played the game. I don't get the complaint here, is it cause there's no multiple paths to get to places? Cause if yes, i don't remember dark souls doing much of those either. For every area there's usually one entrance, and one exit, plus side rooms and such for collectibles.
| Nodrim wrote: | | The incentive for exploration is greatly reduced just because of these factors, but when you add randomized loot and repetitive enemies, there's little drive left for exploration. |
To make a note, i've got the purchased version on the ps4, so i was also playing with online features on. Onto the response: The randomized loot is not the best, i agree, but since you say you're on the last map, by this point you should know there's around 2-3 weapons per type to use, and the 4 (?) armor sets. Now, i got most of those fighting player revenants, so the online part worked out really well for me. As for a reason for exploration, welp, xp tokens? I think i milked every single corridor for every bit of collectibles, so i guess it's subjective as well.
Repetitive enemies? Down to personal preference i guess, i felt like there's enough variety with the 30 types of enemies & 30 something bosses available to fight.
Missed one of your points
| Nodrim wrote: | | You can take a look at a two screenshots and realize immediately how dated the graphics are or how poorly designed the UI is. |
No need for that, i've played it on the ps4 pro, in performance mode, so the graphics sucked a bit worse than they should've i guess. But you've got the pc version! Graphics complaints shouldn't be the case running this baby in 4K with everything cranked up to high. Sure, Dark Souls does have some nice things, such as those dual molten ultragreatswords, but for the most part, they've got similar looking textures & environments, from the technical point of view. Enemy models look better on Nioh though.
A side note to all this. I'm not trying to bash you, i'm just tired of the same ol' one liner twitter age. The place is full of statements that barely promote any sort of discussion. Everyone's so accustomed to giving their 2c that there's very little discussion to be had on any of the posts.

It's ok to have enemies with attacks hard to anticipate, it's not ok for enemies to interrupt animations for new attacks and I observed this happening quite a few times. In all fairness, Nioh is a much more responsive than any of the games in the Souls series and the player can make up for this. But it's still a design flaw (or bug?).

The level design is bland, most maps are linear and filled with reused assets which makes them even more boring then they should be. Of course you'll remember set pieces, they repeat all the time. While games should not take the same approaches, Nioh is a Souls-like game and it's fair to compare it with the Dark Souls series. The latter has some of the most impressive level/world designs on the market. The intricate world of the original game is a masterpiece, by comparison Nioh has some boxes for maps. But even other games in this sub-genre did a much much better job.

The items you find aren't anything wow and having to go through the same corridors over and over again on different missions is not a plus either. While somebody who's completely immersed into the game might not have a problem with this, it's hard not to see how the rest could easily be bother by this design.

30 what? There are like 6-9 types of enemies that keep repeating sometimes with slightly modified models and attacks. That's not variety, that's cheaping out trying to trick people into thinking otherwise. Even some of the bosses repeat multiple times (Not like Souls don't have this problem).

I'm sorry to say, but this hardly an argument. While 4k resolution adds up to a nicer look it will never make up for low resolution textures, the lack of visual effects, etc. (or the optimization problems). There's little to defend on the visuals here, they are low quality even by Asian standards.

Everything blown out of proportions just because I said why the game didn't click with me. I didn't say Nioh is a bad game, it's inferior to Dark Souls in most aspects, but that that doesn't mean it's bad.

Not very moddable, different engine (in house?) from what I know so yeah I think you might have a problem with getting (default) input icon overrides in place for a texture swap.

Just do side missons as well and grind a bit if it's getting a bit too hard. Don't wait for super drops to just appear, and forge the ones you have low level of and keep track of weight of course. Be sure to forge new weapons if you're behind on it.

The missions levels aren't there to contrast with your own, it's just there for comparison between missions. You're not falling behind if you see missions much higher level than you being unlocked.
Although in terms of farming while leveling, if you find twilight missions that were story missions, I prefer farming those. Story missions have a boss battle at the end for good loot drops, and the rest of the level can be skipped easily, just got to be able to beat the boss, rather than having to beat many tough encounters.
Umi-Bozu, or Female Ogre, or Vampire chick (forgot her name, the paralysis boss) are my prefer missions, just because it is easy fight + easy run to the boss.

THis is the true boss of this game

There is no way to change lock on switch bindings in options because they are hardcoded to camera movement.
You can bind alternative keys for them, but it won't change a thing, since it ill still be tied to mouse movement.
Classical console two funtions tied to a single input.
What happens is when you fight several enemies and lock on something even the slightest mouse movement will make your camera jump through several targets and making a mess out of a combat situation. |
Fucking retards.. I lost count how many times I died coz of this nonsense
Such a shame..coz other than that Kb+mouse controls are really good (after the patches)
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)
