They could just call it XIII.Remake to differenciate it from the original...Not that hard..
EDIT:
Played a few minutes just to see how it looks and while graphically it looks greater, some things are pretty...More like, VERY DISAPPOINTING:
-The opening movie sure gives back "good memories" of the original game's cinematics just to save devs some big time re-doing the opening...But why, though?.. The rest of the cutscenes are identical with minor (disappointing) changes
...And who TF is the FBI guy from the beginning watching it outta nowhere?..COME ON!
-60FPS gloriousness
-Aiming with the right click, shooting then leave the aiming and turning makes the mouse sometimes "speed up", making you lose control for a moment
-Some iconic Onomatopeias, like RATATATTATATTTATATATTA to the beach girl, INCLUDING THE CINEMATIC AFTER THE BEACH EPISODE, are GONE...Only the "AHHHH" "NOOOO" and others remains but sure, "kills the fun"
-The SOUND has MAJOR ISSUES. You hear the bullets more than the MUSIC itself (Keeping the 100% settings in Options), and the music does a kind-of terrible job at the beach, not letting the drumset mania play as good as the original (It's the same song, just bad looped).
-More enemies outta nowhere that didn't appeard at the Beach, like the hills on the left or the helicopter by the ship area
-The WINSLOW BANK cutscene (initial one) , while being a 60FPS Video (Well done) , misses stuff like XIII's eyes zoomed in like "WTF's going on...?" etc...
-Facial expressions... SO EMPTY  ..And death animations?...The worst
-The memorable "Panels and heart beats" once a stage is loaded, telling you to move your ass to begin
Hopefully MICROIDS fix all this audible MESS..

Thanks for the quick review, DV2. Sounds exactly like the impression I had from that launch trailer.
Animations looked really stiff in the trailer and seemingly this is either a cheap cash grab or the work of a rather unexperienced studio. Either way, I'll skip for now.

Well of course it's an obvious cash grab. Original XIII was not available on Steam. And releasing an old game would not generate as much attention needed. So, announce barely remastered version, add 40€ price tag, pre-order it and as a bonus - you will get original for free. That way you won't have to give away remastered version for existing owners who might have spent like only 10€ or 15€ for an original version. It's amazing business plan.

Never completed the original because there was bug with Disk 3 (or 2?). You had to insert Disk 3 and then it crashed. Never came around to look for a fix or a better crack.

Ya can now always get the GOG version released a few months ago? and patch the fuck outta it with the HD Widescreen patches , among mouse fix etc etc.. No issues with it while recording it with Nvidia Geforce Experience

Since they're using the same exact audio files from the original game yes, i'm sure the ending's gonna be the same. I might just watch it online (it's out there) and see how it ends, then save myself some hours for, hopefully later or tomorrow, YAKUZA 7
...Or AGE OF EMPIRES 2 D.E (Still wanna buy it but still unsure.. Probably Y7 invading the comfort zone )

Jesus dog shit christ.
Death animations are a god damn joke. They're like 10 FPS, you can literally see the frames of their universal drop like a sack of shit animation.
Animations in general are not smooth at all. They're janky as fuuuuuuuuuck.
Gun sounds, I dunno what in the fuck is going on but they're not in sync with the gun shots and they have 0 volume. I was being shot from like 30 feet away and was wondering what was going on cause there was no volume to it.
Feels like you're shooting a painball gun.
They literally had the source material in front of them. All they had to do was 1:1 it with better sounds and gfx, can't evne do that right.
1 pulls out pistol. 2 Pulls out AK. If you have nothing in your hands atm, hitting 2 pulls out....wait..pistol? Hit 2 again and THEN it gives you AK?
Did they even play their own fucking game?
Guys it finally happened. Soldier of Fortune Payback has been toppled and a new crown is in place.

Mousewheel sucked balls really hard too.. Not going to touch this until they fix all the mess..But knowing how it'll end, who cares?.. Just to see how much changed the characters are (What have they done with the woman who saves ya?!)
The only good thing?.. F key!.. Tells you WHERE TO FUCKING GO !!!! (Never forget the prison part at the hospital bed moment, where ya had to climb up a few objects to get into a tunnel vent thing)

I was prepared for another sad trombone because of the different art-style and the very low budget, but this sounds even worse than I expected 
Will be replaying the classic Steam version instead one of these days, it requires some tinkering but there's the Unofficial patch that should take care of everything.

Just one thing. They said that the game's story continues in the comics, but i'd like to know wich volume should i read so i don't waste time on the already seen content we (some of us) know..
