Yep it's been years since I played it but I recall it being intended to have multiple installments or episodic but due to initial low sales only the first part was ever released.

Will be interesting to see what comes from some of these acquisitions and pick-ups as studios or rights and licenses are sold off or picked up by others and either sees re-releases or remakes on current hardware particularly the newer console generations.

Must be some thought or plan behind some of these but I wonder how well they would do when revived like this, even otherwise popular franchises like say Tomb Raider struggled a bit with it's reboot though that also lies partially on publishers and expected sales for a few of these attempts.

Episodic or multiple installments we also have stuff like Sin Episodies or Anachronox or Shenmue which got a revive through fan backing via Kickstarter but overall reception appears to be pretty mixed.

THQ/Nordic as one of the more recent driving forces for re-releasing and updating some of their acquisitions but also others or even the developers themselves like with Crysis or handling it via outsourcing probably something we'll see a bit more of now with the new console generation giving an additional platform for sales and a new generation of gamers plus a possible way to justify a more costly remake rather than a updated re-release.

Far as Bloodrayne here goes I don't known if the original games will stand up very well but it's a nice gesture to see the effort and attempt before moving on to whatever the next thing will be and since Ziggurat picked up some of the other Majesco properties there has to be some plan for these too they won't just be sitting on them even if there might be a bit more time before any plans are announced like sequels or remasters or such.

Some bigger publishers will sit on stuff though, Dungeon Keeper remains kinda dead but as we saw Command & Conquer got a chance so you never know what might happen. Very Happy

I'm no expert or anything, risk and cost versus expected sales and possible targeting the XBox, Playstation and Switch consoles and various cross-gen efforts perhaps for a few of these re-releases without going over budget or risking poor sales affecting the economical situation too adversely but we shall see.

Obviously community interest and established popular franchises get a bit of a better chance or bigger undertaking like the full remake of Demons Souls but there's been a number of re-releases now and it's getting better overall from the looks of things compared to earlier more mixed results.
(Not perfect just yet though, Mafia 2 and 3 remasters kinda cooled down things a bit for Mafia 1's remake even if it's by different developer studios under the same publisher.)

Well what do I know, for now half-human half-vampire "Dhampir" and her adventures in World War 2 followed by the more modern setting in the sequel and whatever the spin-off games and comics branched off into. Very Happy

...Plus that one movie by the infamous mister Boll ha ha.

I would say Nocturne first before Bloodrayne. Nocturne is way better Smile

I had forgotten about that game until you mentioned it and I looked it up.

Someone really needs to wrench the rights for No One Lives Forever into something usable too but yeah 3x or so bigger studios neither really wanting to co-operate (Or at least expend the resources to make sure.) or being certain about ownership but being really certain about taking legal action.

Now that's a mess of trying to resolve that without a big briefcase of cash.

GOG at least does a good effort of preserving some of these games but yeah figuring out ownership and getting them updated and modernized or a bit more without a full remake is usually a challenge.

Anything from missing assets to figuring out which if any remaining or changed studios or publishers own the property and then trying to work with existing code or reverse engineer what's available.

So many good games that are pretty much in limbo although emulation might ensure the originals at least remain in a mostly playable state. Smile

Boll actually made 3 BloodRayne films.

I always liked the character and ideas for the BloodRayne series so a nice updated version or continuation would be cool to see. I also just noticed that Ziggurat already are listed as the publisher for all these newly acquired games on Steam so it seems they made fast work making sure that info got updated but looking at some of their other games I am not seeing anything that gives me much confidence in their quality for future releases of Advent Rising or BloodRayne.

I still have my big box copy of Nocturne but have not tried playing the game since I beat it back then. Is it easy to get it to run? Looking at some info I see it mentions using dgVoodoo 2 to get it to run on Windows 10 or do you have another recommendation as it might be fun to try it again after all this time.

Too bad they missed a Halloween release but I am looking forward to playing these games again plus you have to love when the publishers are not dicks and give the previous owners the upgrades for free. I am surprised though that they did not mention PS5 and Nextbox as release platforms as well as I am sure that was the main reason for them to even bother with these upgraded versions.

Ha! Back when video game female protagonists were still allowed to be hot Sad Laughing

Nice to see that the patched-up versions are free for those who own the original games, it should always be like this but alas the greedia remustarditis is a common disease these days.

They wouldn't be able to pull off a modern Bloodrayne. She'd end up being butch as fuck with all elements of allure and sex appeal stripped out. At that point, why even bother?

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

It shows I own them on Steam so it was automatic. 6.4 gigs for the first game is surprising big to me but downloading now to check it out.
