I think machine for pigs was better. More interesting setting and story, less fucking chatter and interruptions. But this has more gameplay though which was a machine for a pigs biggest weakness.

The gameplay was garbage but the story, music and dialogue were great. If the new game takes these elements from AMFP and the gameplay from Amnesia 1 then I'll be happy.
Edit:
Just read storwolf's comment
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Yeah, they tried to sell their progressive story so much that they offed the horror story. Its still there, but it just aint scary.

Not scary and not as involving as TDD.
Maybe because I am forced to play a woman that literally talks shit, can't find a place in her pockets to carry more than 10 matchsticks and swipes away even further immersion by constantly singing lullabies and talking to her belly. Baby. Baby belly.
Meh, in my defense: I are a simple mEn.
Spoiler: | I still love Frictional Games. They game me SOMA. |

I played through it.
First of all I gotta say... How could they go from the masterpiece (IMO) that is SOMA into this thoroughly average game? It's still OK. It's not terrible. It's much worse than SOMA and a bit worse than ATDD.
The story is OK, though simpler than I was expecting, and they never explained how Tasi ended up back on the Cassandra. I assume it's the device. At least they addressed the amnesia. I wish they did more connections to ATDD.
Gameplay-wise, the game feels very unfair a lot of the time compared to Amnesia or Soma. There's hardly any stealth mechanic in the game, like there never was in the other games, but this time the creatures can "smell" you or "sense" you, so they're just relentlessly on your ass whenever they're around even if you're doing a great job of stealthing it. The second enemy type adds random teleportation, and the mess is complete. It was really frustrating. The game alludes that "dying" too much has consequences, so that made it extra stressful to die to an unfair enemy teleporting right behind you or something. Also, a lot of the time when monsters appeared, I was thinking "what does the developer want me to do here" and a wrong guess meant you're fucked. It never felt dynamic, or that I had options.
Controls sometimes felt like they were made for gamepads, especially when manipulating certain objects, or a certain scene where you had to keep a swaying camera fixated on a certain spot.
I'm glad I played it in the end for the story, but some of the perceived unfairness really grated on me.
EDIT: I only "died" three times the whole game, so I don't think it was just me sucking.
EDIT2: The screamyface thing was really cheap.

Unlike SOMA, I think they only worked on week-ends for this game.

I hope they'll learn from their mistakes and make enough money to try another game. I don't think this is going to sell well.

Read this in one of the negative reviews on Steam:
| Quote: | Frictional Games, please, fire Talespinners with their liberal arts degree writers, and get Mikael Hedberg back on board.
|
So... Frictional employed a company named Talespinners to take charge of the story - with some guy or gal called IAN - to take up the role of Lead Writer.
https://talespinners.co.uk/amnesia-rebirth-released/
So that's why some aspects of the game felt... off. Bastards, they broke Amnesia...

Man, it was pretty easy to see this was written by some liberal idiot. Muslim couple, man acting more feminine than a woman, pregnant, shoving so much backstory in your face that it breaks immersion completely. Most of these set pieces are fine, it's just the way they did it just does not fit in any self respecting horror game.
