Seems i've played most of them, or have them on my backlog until i get my new gfx card. Such a shame, need more of this type of game Very Happy

Just finished amnesia a machine for pigs a few days ago. While it was more a walking simulator, that also hit the spot!

Heard good things about Soma.

+ 1 000 000 But avoid Regular Mode and play in Safe mode.

Fixed that.

'Regular mode' enemies are anything but challenging. Annoying as f**k would be the proper description.

Some lesser known games in this category:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/380150/STASIS/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/409320/Syndrome/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/700330/SCP_Secret_Laboratory/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/798490/Othercide/ (not really sci-fi or space but still an interesting kind of a horror x-com game)

Also maybe GTFO. But that one is perhaps better with friends and I don't know if you can play it solo with bots like L4D.

Will quote meself from the SOMA thread...

Completed the game in both modes. Safe Mode definitely kills stress level at some locations ruining the atmosphere. Monsters are basically divided in two camps: "Get outta my way" and "Run from the player".

In SOMA lore is spread among locations - terminals, tv news reports, whiteboards, etc. In order to explore you need to learn monsters behaviors. Finding safe spot and watching news reports while crazy shit happens around you is so much more immersive in Regular Mode.

Safe mode ruined the immersion for me. It transforms the player into observer rather than being a part of the game world.
