tbh i am not looking for feedback of someone who spent thousands of hours on coh ... i am ust looking for fun RTS with campaign .... dont give a fklying fuck about MP balance and shit like that .... and that thread is skewed quite strongly for that with mostly impressions from demo by elitist fucks that spent thousands of hours on classics
... but well the pricing is still a bit too much for me
The link i gave you has issues with core gameplaying features and flow of the game, not "elitist" multiplayer. Do you expect "fun" campaign when people say stuff like that after they played it ?
It may look like they borrowed most of their stuff from COH. But if they dont know what to do with them, it makes no difference. Its like you have the same ingredient to make a meal. One is some dude who barelly knows how to make eggs. The other is ramsey.
The game doesnt look particularly apealing even when watching the campaign on youtube. And then you look at what the devs said, that COH was in a bad state at release and turned out good in the end ???? What ? This is what they're relying on ? Push a half baked game and rely on patches along the road ?
COH 2, a bit, yeah. But i think the devs were talking about the original. Look at what a guy said in the comments
- there seems to be no need for tactical control, you can just blob your way around and that's it.
- The cover system is terrible, it doesn't work well.
- The pathfinding is straight from the year 2000s, and that's being generous
- The factions have no depth nor charm. The fact that most infantry units are the same doesn't really help them. They're too much of a mirror.
- The game feels very much like an EA. There's no upgrade options or buildings, for instance
Nailing down a larger budget rts seems to be something that escapes smaller devs that try it. I used to think it might be because its more difficult ? Needs proper budget and manpower. But we have so many iso rpg's in the last years. It a proper rts much more difficult to build then ?
Anyone having issues playing the campaign? At the screen where you choose difficulty, I pick and click continue but it doesn't register, nothing happens.
/Edit: it seems it happens on all game mode options...can't do anything.
I've been playing Polaniaball's campaign, the tone of the story is less serious than I expected and the gameplay is rather simplistic/basic when it comes to the amount of depth available, but it has a certain charm to it. It's essentially Company of Heroes' cousin with a more focused narrative, giant Kurwa mechs, a pet bear, Blyats and various picturesque characters.
It feels rough around the edges though and definitely needs a few patches to improve the completely random cover system, the reactivity and pathfinding (then again, what else is new ). The Unity performance is iffy as well (what else is new vol.2) especially when things get hectic and there's environmental destruction going on. The single-player is decent for what it is, but it still feels like a missed opportunity in my opinion since the inspired setting and design deserved something a bit less stagnant under the hood gameplay-wise. I'd say it's worth an isodemo for now, your mileage may vary though.
