I just played the first months sub. It was very nostalgic and super fun playing again but i just couldn't help feeling like a relapsed heroin addict.

Shame as i had just hit 60 and got my epic mount and was ready for some proper dungeon grinding.

Nope, the "Been there, done that, did it" feeling was too stronk and it just reminded me of how much more better TBC was. Also, didn't include my favourite AV version. And (at least on my server) I had more people coming from private servers with their ridiculous manners/rule-sets when it comes to group content.

Not that I planned on playing it a lot... but haven't played it in months. I'll stick with SWG filling the olds-chool MMO cravings.

Not that releasing TBC would make a difference. I seen all there is to that one as well. We completed all attunements and raids back in the days. Except for Naxx (we didn't bother with TBC being so close) in Vanilla we did the same... so maybe that is the problem.

A big chunk of people I talked with in classic that are still playing and enjoying it were usually ones that: were too young when it released to fully experience it, didn't raid or just didn't play it.

Still have horror flashbacks about WSG, playing as Alliance in Classic, 15 years ago... Laughing

Alliance... what are you? 5 year olds?!?! Cool Face

More serious, I think its less of a problem these days. People are better players. A lot of folks were rather crap in vanilla. Crowd control barely being used properly and such.

I did love PvP'ing in vanilla. Probably helped that we had a team that got together daily. Was me as a rogue, a shaman and another rogue with sometimes the main warrior of the guild joining us. I can imagine we ruined most peoples fun with our stun locking alone. Razz

We would usually piss off our fellow Horde because we stayed at farm.
Somehow telling them farm was safe made it worse. Laughing

Well in all honesty (and its not to defend them, because I think they could be a tad faster)... they have been doing it like that since back in ye old days (when there were no streamers and the animals could talk). Taking their 'sweet' time and doing big ban waves and only communicate when there was too much outcry.

Retail itself had a lot of botters (starfall druid teams or Zin'athid farmers) the past months as well, many people reporting them and its frustrating to see how long it takes AND that its out of their own doing with their Fomo crap that is the brutosaurus AH mount.

I'm sure the gold buying services are doing great because of it and it being the end of the expansion where quite a few want to pay for titles/mount boost runs because time is running out for some rewards.

A quote from comments:

Quote:
The Classic experience.

People are so obsessed with doing everything optimal and as fast as possible that it undermines the very reason people have been wanting Classic.

Don't worry

You'll get the classic experience in 50 years or so when you can reset your memory or you can create a server just for you that's filled with AI that acts like noobs back in the day.

Of course it will never be the same again. It's like Groundhog Day the MMO.

No need to be the 'same'.

It only needs normal people acting like they are enjoying the ride, not rushing (for) absolutely everything.

there were people rushing to endgame stuff too when classic was released, just like now, only that it's more people doing it now.
you can still find people who do it slow, just like in the past.
you can play the game like you want to, no need to put yourself above others and tell them how to play.

For AQ event: People knew what was coming and it was easier to stockpile the resources. Unless Blizzard made it time based with a fake turn in system than this was bound to happen.

i actually have a similar problem running an ultima online server.. it's heavily tweaked so that it doesn't require grinding, balanced so you don't have to play 24/7 to achieve shit.
of course everyone playing just starts macroing and caps out their characters within two days Laughing

the old days are dead, confirmed. power gaming is the only gaming.

Going beyond the 'rush everywhere' principle will award you the benefits of a healthier, happier life. No matter the space where you manifest that.

I apologize for not making it more clear. Most people, I know, require this proper explanation, as they are literally lost in their own mindless speedy empty status.

I know how it is, I've been there.
