There is only one planet in Terraria right? You don't build a ship and go other planets like in Starbound, do you? I also liked Starbound more but honestly never got into more than 2-3 hours at once in any of them. Now I play Terraria again but the beginning is so slow might uninstall it for the 5h time...
That part of Starbound was kind of underwhelming (at least when i played it years ago now). I thought the planets were quite samey, i could even predict that "oh, up ahead will be building and then a swamp because it's just like that other planet i was on, i recognize this.." Maybe that has changed though or i was unlucky to get the same generation several times.

Well to recommend the game, having 450 hours played I can say it's definitely more fun to play with a friend, spawn an expert world so the game is hard and host a server somewhere so you can drop-in and out. Expert difficulty is really well balanced/fun some bosses will have you rage quitting and force you to try all sorts of crazy strategies and gear combinations. I'm not a massive sandbox game fan to be honest, this game offers sandbox but there is also a very clear linear progression to it which is why I think the game is so good. As you play in co-op you will work out, "We need gold/titanium gear, we have to take out X boss, we need to get to the underworld, we need to build out some farms or farm x creatures.
I've tried to like Starbound so many times (20 hours played), there are so many gameplay elements that just don't work for it, also procedural everything doesn't equate to a rich gameworld with endless content, quite the opposite really. I'm hoping the team behind Terraria stick to what has been working thus far for their next game.

I've got 17 hours in Terraria now. Started to get the hang of it. Honestly the first time I had to fight the Slime King he made me rage hard. I only had copper armor, some useless spear for 9 damage and a Slime Staff so that fat goo ball killed me almost instantly like 20 times.
I was perhaps very lucky to find a Slime Staff in the first hour. The little guy helped me kill so many baddies. Now I've got Crimtane sword and gold armor and have killed the Eye and the Slime King. Few hours ago I found a merchant underground who was selling Spelunker's Torches that really sped up the game with gathering ores and finding treasures. I've just reached the caves with the skeletons. I still haven't discovered the whole ground level tho. Only the desert and the snow areas but didn't explore them much because the damn inventory fills up so fast. Good thing the fat king dropped a flying piggy bank which is amazing.
On a side note I found these useful beginners tips. The site has similar tips for other games too such as Starbound.
I can already tell you'll have a fun time indeed with the later bosses.
Well, at least the Brain and the Bee Queen were very easy. But now I go prepared. And I have 400 HP now instead of 150 when I fought the Eye and the Slime. Always having armor and regen potions, heart lantern for more regen (does the regen even stack?), cooked food and I put platforms around the area to have easy grab and not fall down to death. Oh and I found some nice weapon sharpening anvil for armor penetration.
If King Slime was a 'problem'... then... not sure if you should continue to play the game.
Hey, I had 150 HP, 9 armor and a 9 damage spear. Actually my slime pet was doing most damage in the first fight. And I had no hook to run away so the fat fuck was just teleporting on me. With only the basic pots that have 60 secs cooldown it was impossible to kill it.
Really a lot of stuff but mostly items. Some pets and mounts. No biomes or areas. New super hard difficulty and one easier. Kinda expected more but game already had too many things anyway
It has several new mini-biomes.. graveyard is one of them.
The new torch luck system (which isn't explained, i was just lucky to read a forum and someone mentioned it) sucks i think. so you get negative luck if you place normal torches, but biome specific torches gives positive luck if you place them correctly.
who gives a shit who's fault it is? Not as if being angry and shouting and cursing about it will accomplish anything. And i agree, let stadia die a very agonizing death.
