Yeah, the resolution isn't great at all, even with GPU upscaling (think it goes from 720p to like 900p).. it's only decent enough to play exclusives if you don't plan on purchasing a PS4/5 in the near future.
So.. Spiderman and Bloodborne if I'm feeling masochistic, and that's it. Better than waiting for an hypothetic PS4 emulator
Oh yeah, PS4 games such as Spiderman might require a DS4 gamepad for its touchpad.
If it requires actual movement from the Touchpad like Infamous 2, then you're fucked. If it's just a touchpad click (similar to a back button) to bring up menus like Spiderman, then you can emulate it with a non-DS4 pad. I did spend some time figuring how to make it work though
First, you need the ViGEm drivers : https://github.com/snoothy/ucr/wiki/Core_ViGEm
Then, install UCR : https://github.com/Snoothy/UCR#downloads
Then, use UCR's "Button to Button" feature in order to set the back button to "Touchpad Click", and you're good.
Ideally, you wanna remap every button to this emulated DS4 pad, vibrations won't work though - or if you're lazy like I am, just map this one button, use the touchpad click when mandatory, and disable the emulation.
Some application might be useful in fully emulating the DS4 pad (all touchpad functions included), that's reWASD - https://www.rewasd.com, but it's not free. Didn't try it out since I found my ghetto workaround, but it looks like a streamlined solution.

FF7 Remake won't be available on PSNow right after it releases, that would be fucking dumb as hell and that's why Storm supposed you were joking - figuring out whether you're actually fucking with us or not is becoming increasingly difficult.
You can't be seriously expecting it to be available on PSNow from day one, so it's just very dry trolling from you.
It might come a year and a half after that, as was the case for God of War 4 (released on April 2018, was made available on PSNow from October 2019 to January 2020).. but making GOW4 and Uncharted 4 available on PSNow was also a marketing move meant to promote the price reduction announcement. |
I don't get why that would be dumb considering the only ppl interested in actually streaming it would be people without a PS4 so ppl who would not even buy it or otherwise pay anything to Sony.
MS does the right thing with Gamepass and it's working out well for them soon even as a streaming service with xcloud. Sony can fuck right of with their exclusives and walled garden bullshit this will not last much longer and they know it which is why they are allrdy testing the waters with the HZD port. |
There's a big catch though: PSNow is also directly available on the PS4, allowing you to either stream the game from your PS4 (similar to PCs, except you don't get the GPU upscaling) or download it to your PS4 hard drive. Of course, if the game gets removed from the PSNow library, it's also removed from your hard drive.
That would greatly impact the game's sales, and would be completely idiotic for Sony.
Moreover, FF7 Remake can still make people purchase new systems - I bet they'll be looking at those numbers, the game's sales in themselves, and extrapolate the ideal date of arrival for PSNow. I personally wouldn't bet on anything soon
I do agree that MS is doing a much better job though, their GamePass is a lot more desirable
PSNow is only worth it maybe one or two months during an entire year in order to enjoy the timed exclusives - they try to bait you with them and spread them throughout the year.. I'm not even sure I'll get a one month 9,99€ subscription at the end of my trial.

It should be pretty clear by now that ppl usually don't buy a platform for just 1 game and if they do they don't buy much else those times are over, ppl either are allrdy invested in the platform or they don't.
The future doesn't lie in platforms anymore but in services, like the service to play a game on any device you want either they provide or someone else will (like publishers and devs cause they don't need platform holders anymore)

i don't know in which world you live, but people clearly still buy consoles because of one game.
check how console sales go up when a exclusive games gets released or just check all the console + game bundles out there.

Just as a lot of people upgrade their PC for "that one game".
It's the same thing.

Is it though? I think what most do is pulling the trigger on an upgrade for a game but the build itself is usually made more in mind of future proofing (not talking about how it is valid)/what you want to do with it for a while.
That being said, ofcourse people buy a console for exclusives. Majority will until we see a day where there is no need for a console to play said exclusive. Aka if/when the console makers move on to streaming services.
If you ask me: Bit sad though that the only thing that is really worth it for a console is exclusivity.
