I mean, i guess i get the appeal of having one user to constantly bash (yes, even if he's wrong, a moron or both) while the rest of you give eachother pats on the back for having the right opinion (yes, it is the right opinion to have), it builds a sort of sick sense of community, but still, i don't see how you went on for what is now.. 4 years? of constant back and forth trump is god/orange man bad, while still acting surprised that neither of you are changing your stance based on what the other has said.

I don't think there is a right opinion. I guess its ok to like Trump for whatever reasons. Why should it not be. But I think that there is a difference between sharing one's opinion and shitposting/trolling or outright not discussing like your were paid to spread a specific agenda. Like trying to reason with a bot. But making out that difference and reacting accordingly is not and should not be an easy decision to make.

I think you're trying to be neutral for neutrality's sake, i can appreciate how patient you're being but i don't think anyone is gaining anything from these debates aside from self pats on the back.
And i do agree that it shouldn't be an easy decision to make, but you've had 4(?) years to make an informed decision, don't think you've needed the entire 4 to finally decide it's enough?

Regardless of his trolling, it did generate some interesting conversations and debates amongst others. Bringing another diametrically opposed opinion tends to be beneficial to the richness of the conversation overall, it gives something for everyone to chew on.
If anything, constant trolling forces you to be even more subtle and precise in order to properly deflect it. As I've said before, I enjoyed the exercise for the sake of it, it can be good intellectual practice - I'm done with it now. The trolling got way worse lately though, nothing remotely good could begin to come out of it.
What you're saying about the sense of community, etc, isn't that far off the truth entirely, and can well appear like a circlejerk.. It's not like the "rest of you/us" always agrees about everything either.
I totally get that some of us might look like absolute retards for trying and persisting to engage him though, that's damn sure
