Apparently the SARS Coronavirus that also hit China in 2003 killed about 800 people. And this one is much more serious, according to the virologists. Last I read there were 56 killed so far for the 3 months it was discovered. Shit's already found in Paris and California. Not even the best playthroughs of Plague Inc can spread this fast.

That's not even newsworthy... seriously... common cold kills more in a day. Every day, since, FOREVER!

Yes, but the numbers are ongoing. We also can't be sure if China put out the real numbers. Being a communist country it's possible that there are few times more victims. And as I said it's spreading too fast, thanks to the Chinese New Year. It may be similar to common cold because it infects at the same rate and has no cure or vaccine yet but it also kills 10% of the infected. And as far as I know common cold doesn't kill if you have a working immune system so mostly people who have AIDS can die from it. There is also Influenza (The Flu) that can actually kill without a proper treatment but even it has less than 0.006% mortality rate. According to some US reports from 15 millions who had flu in 2019 8k died.
If medicine wasn't so advanced now, this CoronaVirus could've killed at least 1/10th of what The Black Plague did which is about 10 millions people. So this is why it's dangerous - because it has potential to wipe out an entire country.
