Only played free weekends, read now that the problem is that high rank players can join the same servers as low level players, and its obviously far from fair game. Guessing its still random, so its pretty much the devs fault... only fair if the playerbase is very low and you simply have to play with whoever is online
I can't even play the bloody game. I go into the key binding options, change my keys and I get " some actions are missing a proper key binding". Reset the keys to default, change one key so lets say the forwards to to my default RMB and I get the same error message.
Yes I use RMB for forwards and have been since the good old Amiga days !

Starting on August 19 th, we will kick off our prelaunch week – and bring 1.0 to the live server one week early! That means a couple of things. The biggest is that we will raise the Prestige level max to 100, and a new set of rewards will become available!
You'll also have one last week to buy Hunt at the reduced Early Access price before it goes up to full launch price on the 27 th AND to get a hold of the Early Access-exclusive weapon skin, “The Benefactor."
ANOTHER "influencer" video for the game from this dude?! Crytek must have found their perfect promo channel...

Still, the game seems to be quite nice. But the unbalanced PVP play and lack of a friendly immersive PvE (solo-friendly) experience is putting me off.
I have no idea who this streamer is tbh. I got the vid on my recommended list from youtube.
I doubt Crytek has a lot of money for marketing. In fact if this game fails it could very well be the end for Crytek.
When i bought this game in 2018 i refunded it at first. I kept dying and thought it was way to hardcore for me. Bought it again in september because i kept hearing positive things about it and really liked the style of the game. Then i got hooked.
So far it's the best game of 2019 (and 2018) for me.
With the 1.0 version it seems something went wrong.
Game is down to MIXED reviews on Steam. Some quotes:
Quote:
Fights used to be tense and long lasting, giving space to breathe between giving and taking rounds. Being a skilled marksman helped but wasn't the end all be all. [...] I cannot in good conscious reccomend this game for anyone that wants a hardcore, slow paced, and strategical shooter. However, if you want to one tap people from ridicolous ranges with absurd ease and run around like youre playing COD and sometimes kill zombies and a big monster this game is for you.

The game was great. But they made a huge amount of changes that made the game into a much different game overall right before launch.
Massive graphical downgrades, a terrible new progression system, an even worse UI, a worse hit detection system, an immersion breaking 3D ping system and removed weapon sway. They obviously are trying to move away from making this into a niche product, with it's previously much slower, tactical gameplay and instead try to capture the normal shooter audience.
There's also a premium currency now, which might not be P2W, but rather pay to win faster. And that in a game at this price point.
They alienate a lot of their fans in favor of new potential buyers. Also, they obviously focused a lot of resources and changes (that made the game straight up worse) for their console version.
I just hope that I can get a refund after this, since it just got out of early access. Either way, goodbye Hunt. You were once something special.
WTF they did to this game!? Did flapjack just made some recommendations to the devs to make it more casual?!
Yes and no, by removing weapon sway they made the fights similar to what the majority of shooters on the market have to offer. It's more of a run and gun now. The developers are trying to reach a bigger audience now that the game has a stable player base.
Hunt: Showdown is an online shooter that has cultivated a niche audience during Early Access for its hardcore mechanics. It was not meant to be a game for everyone’s taste. Sadly, I’m not sure the same can be said after release. Compromises have been made in order to make the gameplay appealing to a wider audience which was detrimental to the core concept. Nonetheless, Hunt is still an engaging tactical shooter with many qualities, but not as unique as it was before.
(This article is based on a press copy of the game provided by the developer.)
Pros:
+ Good graphics
+ In-depth gameplay mechanics
+ Excellent map design
+ Immersive atmosphere with a looming sense of danger
+ A wide array of weapons, perks and tools
+ Rewarding progression system
Cons:
- Netcode problems
- Some mechanics have been altered for the worse before release
- Audio issues and an obsessive reliance on audio triggers
- No option to reconnect or a proper lobby
- Various bugs
Looking beyond Update 1.2, Hunt: Showdown will see even bigger updates arriving, including cross-play between Xbox and PlayStation, a Solo PvE mode, live-events, outfit customization, and a new map.
I wish more of these sort of games would opt for solo PVE gameplay options as I could even live with bot AI not being the best as sometimes I just want to hop in a game and just not care about waiting to find teammates or deal with their attitudes. Dead By Daylight and Killing Floor 2 are two big offenders for me when it comes to this.
