it's the teachers that get me. you set up a room for a class, then the class and teacher arrive, then the teacher doesn't even know how to fucking logon and gets all confused because the name of the last person to use the machine is still in the logon box. how the fuck do you qualify as a teacher???

i have kind of the same thing hapnening here. I spent 20min on the phone explaining how she could forward a mail from outlook, in the end i just walked up to her computer en pointed at the screen while she clicked. i had to repeat this operation for a couple of weeks and now she can actually forward a mail.
Same goes for anything, they don't know how to print a document in landscape, they whine that their PC is slow, i check it and run a virus scan, the whole windows folder is contaminated, when i say that i can't remove the 30 different viruses on that machine and that i have to format they start whining and refuse to start making backup of their documents before i format.
I'm really starting to believe the world is full of noobs.
the best part is when they call and say: my computer doesn't work.
- what's wrong with it? he can't boot, there's a program that hangs?
- how am i suposed to know, you're the IT specialist here...
that's what really gets on my nerves, they don't even try to make sense or learn...

Bah you have no right to talk about stuff like this!
I make a living by telling people over the phone how to get stuff working (customer support - adsl, email and a few more things).
Today one customer called and had problems with some random shit. Asked him to tell me what he had on the desktop. He said "pencil, keyboard, some random things, CD's, discettes". Guess what desktop that was and the worst part is that it is 100% true.
Or when people call and ask for help to get ADSL running and they are at fucking work 5miles away from home!!!
Stupid motherfuckers.

Well i can remeber i was learning a guy to crack a game ( yeah, replace a fucking .exe file ) used 1hour and 1min. Some people just can't think logic. They think all this technical things is so hard..
Should make a seminar for all the n00bs, to atleast learn them the basics.
@towelie_swe. Well, when you have much to do, its not that funny. if your high\drunk, maybe..

I did that for 5 years and then i got sick of the noobs and moved on to another job, just to find out noobs are everywhere...
worst call i ever had was when the company was taken over by another and the customers had to be migrated from one platform to another.
Some bitch was whining about getting viruses now that the company changed and demanded an antivirus ON HER PHONE LINE!!! told her that the only thing she could do was install an antivirus on her computer, a firewall and some anti spyware program, but she didn't listen, she said that there was a physical firewall on the phone line before the company was taken over by another.
she started screaming about her being an IT specialist and called me incompetent and finally hung up because i wasn't helpfull enough...
Another one every one has already heard but that is mostly an urban legend is when you tell someone to double click "my computer", they ask how to do so. I told him to put the mouse on that icon and press twice on the on the left button. I ACTUALLY HEARD THE GUY PUT HIS MOUSE ON THE SCREEN couldn't stop laughing for 15minutes

I would say it is really giving one some perspective to work with phone support.
We have a customer that is a little weird and has the longest log of all...
Whenever he calls he starts with saying that he is having internet through satellite (even thought he has dial-up from my company), he has also claims to have 10 super computers watching the entire internet and they are all in his house.
Further on for he claims that Janne Schaffer hacked his computer (you swedes knows who that is).
A colleague showed me that one today... some funny reading there...

Also a little funny with people who type the password and just wait.... nothing happens, and they just wait. Lol...

Yes it really is a job that gives some good laughs...
What I like most about it though is that whenever a relaxed customer calls that have some knowledge atleast and when you can help them out successfully and they get all thankful and all that. I really like that part of the job.
But the disadvantage is when a customer thats had problem for 2 months calls and think it is ALL MY fault that his ADSL is not working or similar. They almost scream in the phone. not as fun when that happens...
