Starbreeze Acquires PayDay Franchise, Confirms Payday 3 But you can still look forward to at least 18 more months of PayDay 2 support.

Stockholm-based studio Starbreeze has announced today it has struck a deal with publisher 505 Games to acquire the rights to the PayDay franchise. Following the agreement Starbreeze will be the sole rightsholder for the entire PayDay series.
Starbreeze notes that it will collect all net revenue from sales of PayDay 2 via Steam (starting retroactively from May 1, 2016), but 505 Games will continue to publish the console game PayDay 2: Crimewave Edition (and revenue will continue to be split between the companies).
Starbreeze also confirmed the existence of PayDay 3 within the announcement, explaining 505 Games will share in the net revenue of PayDay 3 (capped at USD $40 million).
In a video celebrating the release of the game’s 100th update, Overkill Software producer Almir Listo confirmed that, as of the next update, the game’s black market will be free for everyone (removing the game’s polarising microtransactions).
At least they're trying to fix the shitstorn they created, and making the Black Market free now kinda speaks to publisher interference and persistence regarding its inception in the first place.

I hope people remember this bullshit when the 3rd one drops and they end up having to close their studio.
That was their plan when they announced the Ultimate Edition though and why all the DLC was on sale for 85% off for over a month before it's release. I think originally they were going to wait till June 21 to release the Ultimate Edition as that date was mentioned a few times but with all the new free players asking how to get the free DLC that said N/A (which most wasn't really free anyways) and things like that this weekend it seems they decided to just release the Ultimate Edition now to silence some of those sort of questions.
