Just finished this in about 12 hours by doing everything the game offers, but now I have to reload an earlier chapter to see what other choices can get me....basically got the worse ending since I wanted to try new things.
Game really is not bad at all. Sure it's no AAA by a long shot and voice acting and animations really could use some work. But I think the game looks good and is very atmospheric...black bars is an issue though, but I couldn't be too arsed to get rid of them so I soldiered on.
A good b-grade game in my book and I am surprised at this, being developed by Teyon and all.
omg how do you make an ugly game using the unreal engine, consoles ruin everything it seems.
Typical console derp, textures are awful, graphics suck, no 21:9 support, this will be hard to play even for Terminator fans.
Also there is like a film grain filter but you can turn it off in the options, thank you Jesus.
Consoles made a game look worse than other console games?
Logic has left the chat.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
The game is pretty mediocre. I'd say all the good things to be told about the game are lifted from the movies. It's obvious that they would do that but sometimes idiot developers try and fail
Anyway - music is great, most of the sounds too. Atmosphere is there.
The gameplay is just that of a tired old fps genre. Nothing new, machines can be destroyed with just handguns. Of course there has to be crafting but at least in a world where humans barely scrape by it makes actual sense. Like that car in T1 that Kyle (and his driver) use to escape. No windows, car body beat to shit but they didn't have a Lexus nearby i guess
The voice acting sucks badly. Don't really care about the graphics but it obviously wasn't the focus.
I didn't play the game much. I doubt it gets better but i'll try it some more. At least until the T-800's. But if it doesn't get more interesting T:FS and Skynet were much better.
Jesus, when will somebody make a good fucking Terminator game?
i like what i've played of this shit so far. you don't do anything amazingly new, you just fucking shoot robots in the war, that and collect a whooooole bunch of shit you probably don't need.
for some reason the voice acting is complete garbage and the story isn't exactly.. good. well, the future is set in stone so i guess it doesn't matter
the biggest flaw with this game is that it's not really trying to kill you. don't even fucking dream of playing this below extreme difficulty. i feel like they need two difficulties ABOVE 'extreme' for this game to be even remotely hard. it's like I AM THE TERMINATOR.
i could bomb skynet back to the dark ages with the amount of pipe bombs and other crap i have collected, just imagine if you actually spent some of the money at the vendors.
I'm still curious how some small, indie-like studio gets to do these games?
I'm sure there are lots of AAA studios who'd die to do Terminator, same for Rambo. And if not the biggest studios at least something like an AA studio (Obsidian etc) could do wonders with something like this. Who's the idiot publisher / license owner giving it to these people?

Jesus, these guys made Rambo the worst game in decades seriously, shape up.
Giant Bomb nominated Rambo for the Worst Game award in 2014.
Yeah, RAMBO was shit, but at least they are improving over the years. Look at Bethesda, still same crappy bugged games and it got only worse with FO76.

Work on growing my own IP, or pay a pretty penny to acquire a license for a limited amount of time/games.. Tough choice.. not

Doesn't explain how a small studio gets it instead of a bigger who's probably got more money too + could actually do a good game and turn a great profit of it to the publisher instead of something rather petty.. how well did Rambo sell? probably not great. Amazing the studio is still alive and money is still pumped into it..
@vurt Why do you think a big studio wants it? What was the last bit studio Terminator game that was hugely successful? In fact, when was the last film Terminator that was hugely successful? It's hardly a lucrative license anymore.
Same goes for Rambo. The last one is a 90min cheap crapola; hardly a lucrative license that gaming studios would gamble with.
I'm sure a good Terminator game would appeal to a lot of fans of T1-T2 and basically anyone disappointed with the new movies, if given to an interesting studio. A whole new IP vs Terminator, Terminator would easily cash in more...
The reviews so far point out a nice little plus at least though a bigger budget and more time or a larger team might have really nailed it.
They're a fan of the source material and did what they could for that getting a ton of little touches and shout-outs and trying to get the lore and such consistent with the other media but not just the movies but also prior games and other sources, noticeable but the game still has a lot of flaws and shortcomings marring the experience and it's not just jankiness or some polish or patches that could help fix it but it's certainly a step up from Rambo as I hear it.
EDIT: Though with how things have gone since the 1990's and also the T1 and T2 movies yeah I don't know if many people would care or bother for getting that right and things like the shooting, level design, animations, gameplay overall and so on would be a bigger priority.
(Well yeah it probably would have to be, hard to sell it otherwise if it's just not a good game compared to other competing titles also out on PC/Console around the time frame of when this got released or a bit before or after.)
EDIT: Hmm wonder what other interesting licenses and works could be adapted to video game format although it might see further changes and compromises depending on what's being done and tech limits and such.
Old science fiction art and books or such would be almost limitless but good luck getting that right in games I suppose.
Movies and books well if it doesn't get completely botched or butchered or they try something that maybe wouldn't fit then perhaps though target demographics, sales expectations and current interests and popularity of certain genres or types of game modes and gameplay would be a tough challenge for a indie developer and bigger publishers wouldn't likely try to risk it at all.
And nobody wants to hit M/AO even if we don't go 100% sexy stuff though even outside of the gore and violence factor having some deep lore and tons of text or err...brain stuff (Yeah that's a explanation alright!) well that's just going to be very niche though a few titles pull of surprise hits.
(Disco Elysium looks interesting as something to that whenever I get a chance to de-back the backlog a bit. )
EDIT: Otho rated B for brain required might be seen as insulting to generation offended these days. Hell do I know.
(Or rated R for reading required.)
Wasn't there a professor who made his class play Ultima IV and basically only a few actually got some progress at all despite the prof bundling some extensive complementary material and hint books but those went largely ignored.
Shooting robots is boring, I can't think of a single game where it's enjoyable (unless you too are a robot)
Same goes for the arcade Terminator game. Bullet sponge enemies in waves. What a snorefest.
A third person game where you ARE the terminator, the bad one, that's something I'd play. In a world as detailed as GTAIV/V, set in the 80s/90s where tech wasn't advanced. You could find clues or track down people to get closer to your target. Where you just smoosh police into little bits, assume people's identities, hotwire everything with your finger, lift heavy things and throw it at people, taking out entire city blocks during a rampage - a sandbox of mayhem...
Speaking of cameos. Robert Patrick cameo at 11:50 in the game:
StudioCanal must still own his likeness.

This game is "ok", ie. 6.5/10 or something. It's obviously not a triple-A or a double-A game but it does what it's supposed to; let you fight Skynet and it's machines (albeit lacking some in atmosphere).
I was curious to see if there's a precious silver tin can inside the junk pile and grabbed the yarrpackminator. Mission success: negative. Verdict: the game was terminated.
It's better than the abysmal Quick Time Rambo (then again, it was impossible to do worse ) and the low-budget isn't a problem for me, but the game is really cheap where it matters. Simplistic level design, shooting and interface that reek of console, nonexistent AI, silly "stealth" (T-800s have about the same awareness as walking frying pans) and so on.
The only positives are the music and dark-ish mood which do resemble the franchise, everything else reminded me of a gimped version of the already special Homefront 2. Steam reviews once again are useful only to check the presence of predatory schemes and performance issues, since they're a pretty terrible way to determine the actual quality of games.
Completed it and had lots of fun with it. Of course it does help that I love T1 and T2 and that the storyline ignores all the other shit movies. The critics got it wrong again, I'd easily give it an 8 considering it's a budget game and it makes great use of the license.
