Game is actually fun so far. Only MAJOR complaint is everything feels too damn floaty. The heft of Soulsbornes isn't here.

Other than that game runs really well and there's more "meat" to the gameplay than I thought. Will really be interesting to see some completely OP builds min-maxing skills from Blood Code's.

It's like someone mixed God Eater and Dark Souls reliably borrowing assets from both and made some sort of action RPG out of it.

Create a character but yeah the facial and accessory detail is nice but body and clothing is more limited and then get thrust into a land of revenants and blood and vague allusions to God Eater and not so vague allusions to everything they kinda took from the Souls games.
(Smoughs mom! Another Londor! Hella long ladders! Fog gates masking loading times! Invasions? Yep got those too but it's more like a small army of random enemies now.)

A number of different weapon and gear though you don't completely drown in loot and there' some varying paths and progression points and I am pretty sure there's at least two endings from whatever dictates how these go.

Difficulty isn't the highest but the AI's pretty basic and you can chose to take one of several companions with you who then comment on just about everything same as in God Eater and you can also gift them objects used for trade points (TP for short, yeah I know.) which can be traded for various items including weapons though these cost a good number of TP's so it takes a while.

Leveling up is pretty static more health, stamina and damage really but the classes and the way you learn and master skills which can then be used on other classes allows for a lot of flexibility though some builds might be better than others and there's a good mix of both active and passive skills you can assign and use once you get a few classes and start unlocking their abilities.

There's also memories and giving some background info and plot which when viewed then also unlocks previously obscured skills for these classes which is a neat little element.

The bonfire is a small shrub object this time which also unveils the fog of war and there's a hotspring (Of course there is one!) which can also be used to rewatch earlier sequences and gives back I think half your blood (souls) if you do die and don't want or can't go back and pick up the full amount without risking losing it all by dying again.

Hollowing or going crazy from blood thirst is a thing here too and yeah it takes a lot of elements from the Souls games.
(There's the usual backtracking into and unlocking shortcuts such as the curious doors that can only be opened from one side.)

Bugs? Well it runs really well but it also isn't a very strong contender for visual fidelity despite using UE4 and the controls often become unresponsive and act up but beside that I haven't hit any quest issues or progression problems so far but I have heard these do exist as well from reading other players posts about the game.

Odd mix (Thanks Unreal Engine? Razz ) of realistic environments and areas and more anime characters too which kinda clash and sometimes the characters have more styled armor and such so it's a bit of a mish-mash of all sorts of things although I am having fun even if it's Dark Souls and Goth Rave mixed with some J (RPG ? ) design law of "Add boobs to all!" though one gets used after a while ha ha.

Found this as well when exploring around, guess some texture artist masked "working" with looking at recipes for baking.

Oh and there's combat too, active skills and abilities do allow for some nice little tricks and more than just heavy and light attacks and there's different weapon types too also divided between damage types such as slash, pierce and crush and on top of that ranged via rifles and magic.

Backstabbing also becomes a thing and depending on armor used the blood gear / backstab attack animation will differ a bit from a spear like object to other things kinda mimicking the God Eater mechanic where your blade could "consume" enemies for crafting items.
(Here it just kinda kills them dead though. Razz )

Mix it up a bit and you can teleport around enemies as they attack and follow up with a backstab, unleash a combination of physical and magical or firearm attacks and get some nice little variety going in how to tackle enemies that range from random ghoul like basics to dogs (Well it does borrow from Souls.) to larger and slower but heavier hitting enemies and the bosses though I haven't encountered many of those so far yet.

EDIT: Bandai really should have made a PC version of the demo though as it's best to try it before deciding though waiting a bit and trying in a slightly different way should also ensure patches and other upcoming content is part of the package and avoid early release issues. Smile

How far have u progressed?

There are quite a few difficult encounters although they might be bruteforced by some OP builds Laughing

Tbh RPG system is more interesting here than in any DS game. Very Happy

I wish it had better locations design, proper ranged classes and more players in co-op...

PS There are some annoyances like not being able to run and fast-forward dialogues in memories and some other minor stuff

For me, it was worth the buy. But I've been playing with a friend and these games are more fun and engaging in co-op.

PS

ANd I've just finished it... Got the neutral ending and I feel kinda cheated. How was I supposed to know what to do to get the good one? Laughing

And I haven't got all blood codes..it's not possible in one playthrough

8/10

It was a really enjoyable game.

Worked fine for me. But my god do I hate so much about this game. The story is nonsensical garbage, the dialog is poorly written/voiced. The god damn soundtrack just feels out of place. I hate the anime characters, they don't feel like they belong with the rest of the world, their dead eyes especially are annoying, but more so then anything that god damn girl with the big russian hat or whatever, fuck me, what a terrible design, also the IO girl from the start, pure anime, no logic, nonsense.

All that being said, I still come back and play it, and have been playing it for a lot longer now then anything else I've played lately (outside Stygian). Dunno what it is exactly, since the gameplay isn't stellar, definitely worse then any of the souls games and most boses are a joke, although maybe that comes with experience in this type of game. In any case, it definitely has something that grabs me, or maybe its just pure boredom with no other games to play.

The game is fun in co-op. I wouldn't buy it just for a solo play tbh.

Some textures are either really bad or just plain low quality, it's a bit jarring. Regarding the world/story after the first 15 min ->

I finished this recently, 100% completion. Pretty good game, the gameplay is a tiny bit stale since you can get an end-game build pretty early on if you're focused on it, so prepare to do the same thing a lot (pop 3 buffs, pop an attack skill, then slash slash slash).

More forgiving than dark souls, nioh or other soulslike games, which is good especially for people that are sick of soulslike games, this feels more like just an action rpg. Characters are decent, story is decent, some of it is over-dramatized to pull on the heartstrings, but overall its a 7/10. Give it a go, it's not very long, took me about 3 days to finish.

Some bosses were pretty hard coz of the bullshit attacks they do.

+ you can't play as a pure ranged character (not until the very end of the game, and it's still nothing close to DS ranged builds) which sucks during boss fights
