Dunno but it doesn't hurt to have it as an option either i use a bit more then default that's enough for me.

What annoys me the most is the automatic camera centering.

no jumping
no swimming
lots of invisible walls
most npcs and mobs stand still in one place
you can steal stuff or pick locks on doors you are not supposed to open right in front of NPCs and no one bats an eye
lots of fixed mob respawn points (like the one in front of the barracks in New Serene, I almost always get there 3-4 bandits spawned.
enemy variety is extremely bad

It is better than their previous games, so they are on the right track, but still nowhere near Witcher.
PS OK I got to another city (Hikmet) and there are more walking NPC but for some reason there are so few of them considering the size of the cit so, the streets look empty

This is much better than their previous games, but the design didn't change. If you didn't like any of their games and you don't like corridory RPG's, it's not for you.

Looking through the \GreedFall\packs\sli.spk\sli_uncompressed.spk there seems to be a load of stuff that you change via scripts. I bet there's some neat stuff incoming regarding the camera, controls and gui.

You don't get stunlocked if you dodge. Blocking all the time will break your armor and you'll either be raped by a group or a bigger enemy will knock you down. I never noticed a problem with hitboxes, he should've given examples. Use guns, it's very good to soften up armor. Combat is the least clunky aspect of this game IMO. This is one of the few RPGs that isn't riddled with "run back and forth" quests.
Terrible review.

The game is hit and miss, but i've a good time playing it.
Pro:
Quests and storytelling are good with good voice acting. This is the best part of the game and AAA quality.
I like the setting and lore (matter of taste though), the game is immersive.
Straighforward rpg system (big plus for me, I realy dislike a lot of the current cPRG's that have complex systems where you're almost supposed to know the game mechanics beforehand, matter of taste though)
Since this game is a lot like the witcher 3 and later bioware games: what a joy it is to just do story/sub quests opposed to all the stuppid filler quests current AAA titles (again, matter of taste)
Good release state for a RPG, only minor bugs.
cons:
sub par graphics (no problem though), a lot of recycling of artwork (this is an issue, al the tavernes are the same for instance)
Poor combat, to easy at normal, but playing higher difficulties is more like playing against the poor mechanics/camara work then a real chalange. Combat is a lot like the witcher 3 and suffers the same problem:it's easy to avoid attacks, so gear/tactics/game mechanics don't matter. Just don't get hit and you're good.
so 7,5/10 and a must for everyone that enjoys playing a 3th person withcher 3ish rpg.

I'm playing it now, but can't say I'm enjoying it too much. I preferred Bioware's storytelling and pacing in DA3, here you'll find tons of empty land with only occasional gathering points and little to no quest/companion interactions. It's not bad, but simply worse than DA3 (at least based on my subjective opinion). The low variety of spells and abilities also doesn't help much - comparing the tons of spells available in DA3 to the meager selection of combat spells you get here (I believe it's only 3) is painful.

I haven't finished it yet. But I have put around 15 hours in.
The game is their best yet - but not their best setting. Technomancer was much more unique regarding this. I HATE colonial times and themes. They bore the shit out of me, so I couldn't get in to it. I couldn't get in to the characters either, though I admit the writing quality was better than their previous games.
Combat was a lot easier than in their previous games. But I like the combat. I also like the level design. In RPGs I much prefer corridor over open world, unless the open world is excellently done, like Witcher 3.
Aside from DA:O (1st DA) this easily beats the DA series.
I bought the game, gave them the full price money, I want to support this studio.

I'm surprised several people rate this higher than da3. Playing as a mage, the combat mechanics seem extremely bland here compared to da3 (no elemental damage, virtually no spells), and itemization is also lackluster (damage only depends on weapon and no other items). Is the experience so much different when playing other archetypes?
Maybe someone could explain or elaborate on this, i am very interested... Or is it just fashionable to hate on da3?

I had a lot more fun with DA3 than with this one. DA3 had much better combat, characters, villains, enemy variety etc.

Greedfall is a good example that sometimes more means actually less. The game is way too ambitious for its own good and this extends even as far as pricing goes. I enjoyed many of its aspects lured in by the setting and a promising intrigue. But I can’t recommend it in good conscience at a near AAA price tag considering its many shortcomings. You should wait a while before you take your first step on the mysterious shores of Teer Fradee.
Pros:
+ The story, for the most part
+ Design of the quests
+ Voice acting
+ Sense of exploration
+ Nice crafting system
Cons:
– The narrative lacks the moral gravitas this setting could project
– The combat system has numerous issues
– Lip sync, bad animations and recycled visual assets
– Invisible walls
– Price tag

It's a silly "feature", but you can fix it by using a specific mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/greedfall/mods/57?tab=description
Should be compatible with the current version as well:
Quote: | Hi all. Just a quick heads up: this mod still works perfectly fine after the latest patch - it just needs a quick tweak.
Open each of the .SLI files in your text editor of choice, and at the top, change:

to :

Same thing happened to me, just keep trying. Walk away and he returns to the centre of the arena, then run back to the wall and climb as quick as you can. He'll keep blocking the action/climb button at first but keep trying and you'll eventually do it.

I have finally finishes this game. I will give it 8/10
Pretty cool story lane. Made some shitty choices which led to shitty outcomes which lead to more shitty choices. Just like real life.
But man running from Point A to Point B was some total bullshit. Likely there is speed change trainers otherwise I would never finish this game.
