Didn't post this year but it was another good garden year. It's almost mid November now, some Cauliflower is still growing! Also a dozen Chinese Cabbages and shit-tons of Habaneros.
Just took those pictures today -

All I have is a balcony and for years I've planned on planting cherry tomatoes and chili fruits on the balcony (I live on the first floor so I can't grow ).

Ive recently started to look after my garden and i'd like to start growing a few things to eat. I have a long, 6ft wall which faces south. Could I just put some Trellis up and buy some vegetables that are climbers?

Sure, if the spot gets enough sun it should be fine. In June you can still do cucumbers and climbing beans for example. I've got 3 different types of climbing beans this year, white ones, big brown ones and Scarlet Emperor runner beans.

Poohaa that is indeed a big chunk of bapples.

Ours is a bit smaller and produced quite a bit less. But previous owner neglected the garden for a few years so everything is recovering atm. Apple tree not getting enough light in, cherry tree needed more nutrients, soil being dried out and such.

I'm glad the work we've done so far is turning it around. Bar an extreme summer next year I think everything will be up to speed again.

Thanks Wink

Here's a small sample of the actual garden. I got a bit lazy with the photos so most aren't older than ~August.
The Scarlet Runner Beans were really nice. I lost a lot of Turnip Cabbage to internal rot but thankfully I planted many of these beasts so enough survived. The Wild Tomatoes (Gold Rush Currant) were an immense success, harvesting since July and in fact there are still some left now in November! They're easy to maintain and they taste great, can recommend. The Cucumbers and Zucchini grew out of control, I got around 200 Cucumbers and dozens of Black Beauty Zucchini from just a few plants.

For next year I've already planned Romanesco Broccoli, King Kong Sunflowers, large Pumpkin, Asian Yardlong Bean, purple Cabbage Turnip...
Also an actual winter garden with specialized hardy winter vegetables so I can use the garden all year round.

Cabbage Turnip

Cucumber

Scarlet Runner Beans

Amaryllidaceae

Sunflower (for birdfeed)

Cauliflower

Wild Tomatoes Gold Rush Currant

Regular Salad Tomatoes

Zucchini Black Beauty

Cantaloupe (new variant)

Chilli,Paprika

Caprese with garden vegetables

And a few more from the other plants

Beautiful stuff Shocktrooper, top garden and harvesting job!

I live in the countryside as well and in theory I'd have an endless amount of open space to grow anything, but the limited time, some laziness, extreme weather conditions in my area (very hot summers, mini-typhoon-friendly autumns), a colony of greedy ass magpies nesting nearby and lots of roe deers roaming free in the night don't help. I just have a couple of tomato plants + zucchini and that's about it, the easy stuff. Razz

I do have apple trees as well (which appear to work randomly), and a nice cherry-tree that I never managed to enjoy since magpies always come first and leave absolutely nothing behind. Mad

Fucking deer are here as well now. Years of quiet but this time they finally found it. They ate 2/3 of my sugarloaf (lettuce). I've never seen them doing the deed but the evidence speaks a clear language Sad
Built a small makeshift fence now, blocking the one easy entryway. So far they've not eaten any more. Little fuckers.

Ixi you have great conditions to grow something, there's enough that's easy to maintain even if you're a lazy ass. Maybe bring some company for your tomatoes and zucchini next year Wink Some bush beans and chilli plants for example.
