Sounds like waiting for a patch or two before playing this might be wise.
Yep, that's the plan

well, yes, players aren't completely necessary for games to exist

i could create my own choose your own adventure game about being trapped in a toilet stall without any toilet paper, no one would play it, but it's a game i guess

but if a game is being released commercially, then players are necessary

games can serve as vehicles for art or whatever, but most of them are for entertainment

was she an art major in college? or philosophy?

They are not necessary because Epic can pay off the developers. Laughing

The lip sync is some of the worst I have seen in a 3D game in the past decade. If you've played even the intro, you couldn't have missed it

Edit:

youtube.com/watch?v=eZoqEpRRPtM&feature=youtu.be&t=82

'We'll meet you on the boat' + a million other examples in that video. Then there's the running animation. I don't understand why or how they are like this when you have so many good premade animations you can buy and re-purpose.

I haven't made it to the island yet but yes the lip-syncing is just.. well.. as bad as it gets. I've done better lip-syncing myself. I'm not sure if their engine doesn't support some lip-sync algorithm or something that would've at least made it look less terrible and a bit more on point even if not completely natural.

other than that, it is an AA and not triple A, it should have its moments and the world seems pretty interesting with decent writing, not the best there is but certainly not bad. we'll see how it goes.

I'd be curious to see what the lip sync is like if someone is willing to switch the language to French.

There is only english voice acting and nothing else, game is obviously written in french (and i bet lip syncing as well) but there is no french dub.

For a game studio of this size, I am fairly impressed with what I have played. The combat isn't going to win any awards and just works (I'm having fun with it) and the acting and writing so far are top notch. Is the animation quality? No. Does that distract? Nope.

Game deserves attention and support honestly; it's how we get people trying to make and continue full single player experiences like this with no DLC planned in advance of the game launching.

Well i wish i could but can't this game makes me physically ill so i played only a few hours so far Laughing
It certainly doesn't look like it gets any less janky if that's what you mean and i would seriously wait for a few patches before digging in since there is lots of room for improvement. It's definitely never a good idea to play most euro rpgs at release Elex,Witcher or KC:D they all released in a rough state and got patched up pretty good over time it's just how it is.

Yes. Small thing, but it's somewhat annoying.

Though I will say, that so far, I like the weapons they have. Hopefully I'm reading the skill tree wrong and I don't need to progress into two handed swords from single handed. I'll probably go pick up guns or something, because I am liking the sabres they have available as well as all the guards you can put on them to match certain historical sabres. Though I'm biased since I've been doing British military sabre for the past 3 years and have just started learning Hungarian sabre. No longswords for this man.

But yeah, game is clunky though I like it better than Technomancer. It's probably the setting that's really driving me though. Will get back into this after I beat Astral Chain.

The ACG guy really likes it and I think he does great reviews. Seems to be a great AA title. I'll start playing it once they add keybind options for mouse buttons.

17 hours in so far.

Only done the first few main quests, mostly doing side quests Smile

Loving it, yeah it has the unique " spiders atmosphere " and " issues " but in all honesty, I have not encountered any bugs thus far.

Seriously if you like RPG's this is for you.
The story is now slowly unfolding, and so far, loving it Smile

After about three hours, I really like it. It is definitelty multiple levels beyond Technomancer, they did a great job considering their previous work. It looks and runs very well on 1080p at ultra and production values are very good considering the studio. Combat isn't the best, but it does its job well. It's too soon to form a well informed opinion, I'm just at the opening area, but I really enjoyed the time I played.
What bothers me the most atm is the floaty disconnected feel of the mouse and the weird mouths. Whoever did animations, from running to sneaking, is terrible at his job.

If they put effort into patching this (no binding of mouse thumb buttons for example), I might buy it.

If you have a Logitech mouse, you could just use Ghub to remap the mouse button

The weird bobbing was pissing me off, nice. Why would you need a wider fov than the max setting of the slider?
