Any hints on how to slow down default walking movement in this?

Found some cfg's but can't alter much.

This is, IT IS possible, as someone managed to edit this, but can't find that person now.

I would say respectfully that comparison with Deus Ex is pretty far-fetched as obstacles in DE could be overcome in many ways. Here it isn't so, unless you only count skills. I was actually pissed when i met a strong opponent with 3 rogue bots in a space between 2 elevators that only had some stairs and a few benches. It's hard to avoid fighting.

I think it's the kind of game I'll play through once in story mode and then forget about it.

I am not a fan of "jump in your face, you dead, reload" type of gameplay. Jump scares, the cheapest of all scares...

All gaming is in disarray. I am not a fan for indie crapolas that try to wink to nostalgia with terribad graphics and game design. So I've been scratching my head about good games for a while now.

Prey to me is the most remarkable modern attempt at (re)proposing the System Shock formula, it does almost everything right without compromising/streamlining the core mechanics too much. The atmosphere itself doesn't quite reach the heights of the past, but the space station's design can be consistently rewarding when it comes to exploration and experimentation. The narrative never holds your hand with passive silly cinescripted scenes either and encourages reading the various logs, which boosts the immersion factor. I basically echo what Yondy said. Razz

I'd recommend playing it on the hardest difficulty *and* with a minimal HUD though ( https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/928-prey-interface-customizer/ ), since otherwise the game would just turn into your GPS-sim with little sense of danger involved. You'll be an overpowered overlord near the end anyway, but still!

I'm really trying to give this a chance, but it just won't let me!

Lmao, what I mean is, so I advance and find new weapons and tools and get neuromods to upgrade "myself", but it doesn't get any "better". I clean a room or an area, just to find twice as many enemies the next time. No matter what I do or where I go, enemies are back and usually more (of the same).

Weapons seem boring (9mm, shotgun, e-coil thingy...) and yeah, it's just not fun. For me, anyway.

This game is absolutely fantastic, but it may not be for everyone and it does lack a bit of polish, but in my case that didn't really devalue anything about the game. I think if it's for you, it'll just click with you in the first hour or less even. People that act like it's straight up a shit game are talking out of their ass, as is the case with a lot of games to be quite frank.

The upgrades do improve your character gradually. Enemies don't continuously respawn. It seems they respawn with more difficult enemies at certain points in the game. I'm playing on normal and I honestly wouldn't want this game more difficult.

Well, it's clear they were probably planning to work on Prey 2 or at least an extended DLC to continue the story but was ordered not to from the Bethesda overlords and they turned the prototype work into Moon crash which is interesting in some aspects but ultimately not what the majority of us wanted.

Its not the usual AAA FPS fare. I too disliked the first few hours but after a few mandatory abilities the game gets significantly better, they should have tutorialled upgrading movement first.

Got the Combat Sense mod now, slowing time down on demand and it kind of made combat trivial ^^. And yes, of course, I am continuing, I paid for this after all!

And I am playing on normal.

So finished it (base) and meh. It's not a bad game, but it's not all that good either.

I turned down the difficulty to easy and eventually to story, just to make it bearable. It's a lot of walking/flying from A to B. Lots of going through the same places again and again. The combat is boring (hence why I set the difficulty lower), it's more about "fight or not", than "how". You pretty much use whatever you have (left) to kill whatever is in front of you. The story also just drags on and on and it's just so meh.

I give it a 6.5/10.

Well, it's all nice to say it, but you just forcing yourself in doing it a certain way or you simply, as I said, remove what's in front of you with whatever you have (left) in your arsenal. I guess you can go the sneaky way, but a lot of times you simply HAVE to fight your way through and well, it's simply boring to fight in this game. During the last part of the game, I was happy I'd spent points into machine mind, so I simply mind-controlled all the robots that suddenly appeared ^^. But it's really the story that keeps you going, even tho it's so-so, but it is like the only thing that made me want to finish this. Certainly not the combat or the sneaking or whatever else.

Oh and "play your way" sure, but always obvious as fuck. Can't force through the door? Look there, a convenient maintenance tunnel for you. Or here, a door blocked by crates, hope you have leverage 3 or oh, look there, another maintenance tunnel to bypass it. Or just climb over the wall and get in that way...

Most of the "play it your way" is simply giving you 2 or 3 choices for the same thing and usually more than obvious ones Smile

I see, so you didn't felt that the play your thing really goes away for the later sections of the map? (Powerplant, Shuttle etc...)

I'm saying, it never really is there, to begin with.

Simply giving you 3 options each time to go from A to B, is not a choice, it's an illusion of choice because you still have to go to B in the end. Also, the "options" just keep repeating yourself, depending on your skills and/or approach. Manipulate stuff, use bolt caster to hit a button, find the maintenance access, use leverage to clear an entrance. Sure, there are a couple of different ways to get from A to B, but you'll just do them over and over. And for the later game, I assume you mean once Dahl arrived, yeah, I felt it went all away and it was just run from A to B and back again. As I said, I had level 2 Machine Mind, so I just kept right-clicking the military controllers and they kept killing each other, lol. But there was indeed not even the illusion of choice left. It was just straight-up running.

To be honest, the thing that kept me going, was Alex. He was by far the best voiced and I actually wanted to hear what he had to say. Everything else was just white noise to me.
