Wondering if a section for debate has ever been considered? A bunch of World News threads usually end up becoming debates but there's no place I can see where you can start them (unless you consider your thoughts world news )
Maybe it would be a good idea to change the form to "World/Life Debates" or something of that nature.. or you could post the musings in the general section?

Yeah the general section seemed like the best idea.
