Underworld director Lin Wiseman is directing the pilot episode of DC Universe’s “Swamp Thing,“ being produced by James Wan, and we’ve got some damn good news on that front courtesy of a chat between /Film and writer Gary Dauberman. The series, Dauberman says, aims to push the limits as far as possible, shooting for a hard “R” rating!
Quote:
“We always set out to make Swamp Thing as hard R as we could and go graphic with the violence, with the adult themes and make it as scary as possible,” Dauberman told the site. “Because we’re doing it through the DC streaming service, they really pushed us, although they didn’t have to push hard, for us to go as extreme as we could. We really took our inspiration from the Alan Moore run in Swamp Thing. Fans of that series will know it gets pretty weird and extreme and scary. We really wanted to live up to that standard that Moore set up back in the ‘80s. Swamp Thing himself looks incredible… what Justin Raleigh and the guys over at Fractured are doing with the suit. So it’s going to look amazing.”
Quote:
Dauberman continued, “It’s the origin story of the Swamp Thing and it’s Alec Holland wrestling with who he’s become. A lot of it’s told through the point of view of Abby Arcane.“
Practical suit. Extreme. Scary. Weird. Violent. Sign us right the hell up!
“Gotham” star Crystal Reed will play Abby Arcane in the series, with Maria Sten (“Channel Zero,” Straight Outta Compton) on board as Liz Tremayne.
The series, based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, is being written by “Ash vs. Evil Dead” writer Mark Verheiden and IT co-writer Gary Dauberman.
What was obvious that what would happen? And how is DC following Marvel???
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Maybe he is comparing the DC Streaming service to Netflix as far as being R rated shows. DC has been making shows long before Marvel decided to do it but many just forget that fact since they might be Marvel fanboys or not a fan of the CW series of shows.

Oh, ok.
If what he meant was that it's going to be "R"-like, I think that all streaming services have TV-MA programming, so I don't see how DC were inspired to create TV-MA shows by Marvel's Netflix shows, instead of Netflix itself, or Amazon, or Hulu, or ... common sense that you want to offer to your paying costumers something that goes beyond what they will see on The CW, in terms of production values, themes, etc.

Everything we’ve been hearing about DC Universe’s upcoming “Swamp Thing” series has been music to our ears, with the James Wan-produced series aiming to be scary and rated “R” violent, primarily based on Alan Moore’s run. It will also feature a practical creature suit, and we now know that Derek Mears (Friday the 13th, Predators) will be wearing it!
From what I gather, the titular character will play a secondary role in the show. I bet they did this taking into consideration his appearance and all but I feel like this will turn into a stupidnatural procedural.
But, hey, maybe the show is in fact good. Gonna watch it for sure.
EDIT: "SORRY, THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US. WE'LL ANNOUNCE WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE IN YOUR REGION."
well then...
EDIT: also isn't available on ps4 nor samsung tv. So good luck then
EDIT: lazy fucks. There isn't even an aproximated date for this to become available outside the US. Disney+ on the other hand has a scheduled plan of global expansion (and takeover)

Usually after 3 months of series finale it goes up on Netflix. There are webdls available when it releases. Like... Be a smart pirate.

Except for us in the US as we get screwed since all those services are here so none of these exclusives make it to Netflix or Prime.
Yeah they're doing weekly which is smart.
Keeps the subscriptions up lol. And content is decent for the price so it's worth it if you're a DC fan.
Netflix subs go up when a new show comes out. Then they drop after binge watch is done. With doom patrol and now swamp thing they now got... 5 months of continuous subs. To the point where people will forget about having a sub and 5.99 won't kill their pockets.
