If you speak french or don't mind subtitles, go for the french audio. It's much more immersive. |
Agreed, the French VO are way better than the English ones imo.
Quite a superb game, when these type of games are done well they can be quite exceptional and transcend the medium into something else - people will often share their disgust of empty open-world games, well this is somewhat the opposite even though it's not very challenging mechanically-wise.
Will purchase it.

its the same thing as people watching american movies dubbed in their native language and will always prefere that no matter the quality, it is not the intended vision of the director

I just finished it. These devs very much deserve the money. I am honestly sick and tired of all the grindy open world bullshit.
We need more well crafted single player experiences like these.

Performance is kind of shitty, stutters quite a lot with my 1080ti in 4K, not even using highest settings on e.g shadows and AA. Latest nvidia drivers.
The graphics are nice, especially nature. Characters are so-so.
Gameplay mechanics are really a 100% clone of Last of Us, with the upgrades and tool benches and moving of crates, lure enemies with noise etc.
I'd say it's a solid 7/10 so far. Not great but also not too bad. I wish it has better stealth and more interesting A.I, that could have made it really fun i think.
It's also nowhere near Last of Us when it comes to dialogue, characters, overall story (really weak imo).
Kind of lame to even copy the story element of getting a special kid to certain place, just like in LoU.. wish they could have shown a little bit more creativity for the story. I was surprised that the whole plague thing is some type of super natural thing. It's also silly overdone when it comes to how grim everyone is and just want to absolutely slaughter the cute little kids who never hurt a soul.
Worth a try, but not a buy IMO.

I had to disable the chromatic aberration, was super duper invasive. Performance isn't top, gpu heats to 81, have to manually set the fans inside so they are efficient.

Yeah, I'm liking it too. I'm about to start chapter 9, and so far it's been pretty easy. But I really don't mind, as a hard game would break the flow of the story, I think. It's more about the tense situations than being in actual danger.

Played 30 minutes, seems very atmospheric, will likely finish it. Imagine if they had proper budget.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Agreed to most of your points. It is a copy of TLOU, i guess i'm a sucker for story-driven games so i'd give it an 8/10. In the times of straight-up shit clones like Far Cry, Asscreed, Rage 2 etc. something good comes out for once. And i didn't even hear about the game beforehand.
Despite being a copy story-wise and mechanics-wise (actually the plank/box mechanics in TLOU were a tad better) it's world, atmosphere and rats were nice. Plus the great music, the main theme and the approaching castle (Chateau) especially.
As for the plague being a super-natural thing - i was kinda dissapointed too. While playing i actually thought of Kingdom Come Deliverance (there was a disease there as well, just not even close to being as deadly as the plague) and if the game was 100% 14th century walking-sim then would it be better or worse.
Overall, good experience - i'm glad i didn't miss it.
Oh and around 11h to finish seems about right (depending on enjoying the scenery and gathering collectibles).

This is such a surprise gem of a game with a soul among the pile of open world live service bullshit. It really shows that the devs cared for what they're making and they maxed the shit out of the AA formula similarly to Hellblade. Yes, the stealth/gameplay is kind of basic and it's linear as hell, but the atmosphere, the story, the graphics/attention to detail and the amazing soundtrack makes up for it.
Asobo Studio got potential it seems, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft would quietly swoop in and acquire them like they did with Ninja Theory.

What a great game, and not really what I expected (the only gameplay iv seen is from e3 last year). For people thinking this is just a walking simulator are totally wrong.
This is a story driven third person stealth adventure game. For such a game, I like that you could choose what to do in different situations. There are no difficulty settings, but its somewhat easier if you use time to scavenge the areas so you are able to get most upgrades before the end. That doesn't mean its a very hard game, but you should like stealth games to like this one.
It has 16 chapters + epilogue. Its fair to say its a 8-10 hour long game.
Without spoiling anything I can say there are a lot of variation to these chapters, and very few boring/dull moments.
I did play with english voices, and it wasnt that bad... but if knew french I would rather. Im far from a cold person, but I wasnt really able to be that invested in any of the characters to be honest. But it was still a very nice tale.
And yeah, like others have said, it has some performance problems. Ran it on my old gaming laptop 860m/2gb vram, because its hooked up to the 55". Played 1080p medium settings.
8.5/10

For those that have finished, is there any kind of penalty or different ending for killing people? I've missed a few resources because I wasn't sure if it was OK to kill someone in front of innocent little Hugo.
I'm about halfway through the game and wondering if I should just murder everyone I see to get my pieces of string and cloth.
