|
 |
I'll try to be rather specific to not get recommendations which might be a waste of time.
Series i've really loved:
The Shield
Fargo
Southland
True Detective
The Wire
Narcos
Series i think are "OK'ish"
Braquo
Broadchurch
Broen
Wallander
Series i don't like / just tired of:
24
Dexter
I like either really dark and/or "controversial" themes (Swedish and UK series usually does this well) - cases about child murders, lone psycho killers and paedophiles etc). They can usually pull off a dark mystery story.
OR i like gang and drug related (US and Denmark can pull this off really well) + just "ordinary police work" (Southland was great). For US series i don't mind if its slightly action oriented..
...i wouldn't mind e.g Belgian, german, french recommendations as long as there are subs available.
So... what have i missed, if anything ?

Great, thanks!! Bosch is rather mediocre i think, its kind of trying to pull off that mystery vibe a bit, but its not that successful with it, imo.. I do like Bosch himself, he's a good character and a good actor, don't care for the rest too much (characters, plot).
The Missing, it's ok, i've seen the first season. Has a good atmosphere. Typically i really like these sort of mysteries.

I really liked the first "season"\part but then it gets kinda stupid & soap operish tbh

Fortitude starts out as a cop/murder mystery show but veers wildly into sci-fi/mystical territory as the story progresses. The first season is great but the second and third were increasingly absurd and frustrating. Worth checking out S01 and pretending that they never made any more.

Can't recommend this one enough, gets better with every new season (like The Shield), and this latest season (7) that aired in February was a masterpiece of storytelling, procedure, acting and production values.

I'll start with that one then, i usually like French cop movies/series.. they can be really gritty.

It's decent, seen a couple of episodes of it.. dunno liked him better in Deadwood + just something wtih the tone of it that made it feel a bit generic.

Luther doesnt seem too bad. At least not the first couple of episodes.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_(TV_series)
(maybe someone posted it already, I just woke up)
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I'll grab The Sinner, Luther i probably don't care for since i really don't like Elba too much, he was such a drag in The Wire, never liked him after that.
