Although it isn't really a debate, because JBP didn't even prepare and besides it was just more platform/opportunity for him to give a speech, one of many that he gave before.
In fact, you could "cut/edit" the video as such that you only show JBP talking and one would never guess it's a debate between two people.
Let alone from the fact that JBP talked about ... pretty much everything he usually talks about in his own speeches ... everything but what the debate title implies.
I haven't finished watching it til the end as of the time of the post btw.
"There will be no end to the troubles of humanity, until philosophers become kings, or kings become philosophers.", Plato.
"Hyperbole will destroy us all.", Matt Dillahunty.
"The hyperbole, the demonization of the other opinion and the unwillingness to even read the opposing opinion destroys the so important political discussions necessary for the well functioning of society.", Couleur
The problem is that Peterson always rails against marxism bullshit when absolutely not necessary because there are very few actual marxists, but anyone who disagrees with Peterson on anything is a filthy marxist.
Can I have a transcipt, please? I hate listening to Zizek speak. Seriously, I cant stand it. But if you guys say its worth listening to, I might make an effort.
Other than that, I fully expect Peterson getting his ass handed to him. Last time I heard him talk, he spoke about things he doesnt really understand. It's just atrocious. I mean there are so many intelligent people worth listening to on this planet and people listen to that guy?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I'm truly disappointed in Peterson. It was always obvious that Žižek was going to steamroll him when it comes to theory, but i'm shocked how under-prepared he was when it came to Marxism, Post modernism and Žižek himself.
It looks like he "prepared" for some american "post modernist neo marxist" (seriously what the fuck even is that) who has a very superficial understanding of it all and which he debates all the time.
He literally can't answer one simple question and just repeated his opening statement.
This is brutal.
Jeez, just before that part, where he basically asks why Zizek doesn't fit the strawman he so hastily prepared himself for, JP really shows how ill prepared he was for this battle
