So I was driving to work and luckily I have my android app that warns me from these traps, so I got a warning that there was a speed camera ahead. I overtook the truck infront of me but took care to not go above the legal 100km/h and moved back infront of the truck. Well apparently the fuckwit mercedes driver didn't know about the speed trap and overtook me with way over 100km/h just as I passed the camera. The flash went off and if I get a letter because that cunt drove too fast, I'll be super mad

I always wondered if that would work. Seems like a serious flaw in the system.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Wouldn't they have a sensor or laser to get the speed? If it's just automated something like that seems like it would be exploitable but I guess it can also vary from country to country.
Here it feels like it's more of a preventative measure and there's clear warnings and the cameras are almost always clearly visible though they have used a few mobile ones occasionally for roads with more reports about speeding.
Other countries well hidden cameras and high fines and far easier to get the license pulled.
Everybody (else) drives like shit though these days so the laws kinda need to be relaxed or they'd be snapping people constantly with these ha ha.
(And other measures.)

It's usually an Audi, BMW or Mercedes speeding so I guess they had a bit of confirmation bias.
Anywho, sorry to hear. Sucks to get a fine for something you haven't done. Appeal it and see where it goes I guess.

even if u get a letter u would have a clear court case and could prove that u were not the target for the measurement, thus making that picture illegal without probably cause and should be trown out of court

In Finland the cameras don't even work for the opposite lane, can go past speed cameras doing 200kph and not a single flash if you are on the opposite lane.
Works like a charm in the middle of the night.

Link?
Although we have new types of cameras appearing that don't use flash at all and take photos from much further distance too.

It were two lanes going in the same direction, so he didn't pass me on the opposite lane :/

Exactly. They have a number of "stills" and it will be super obvious it wasn't your vehicle speeds.
So, go grab that beer - you're all good man! |
Thx!
@Nalo: Blitzer.de Plus it also works outside of germany. It's actually the community that creates the alerts. So you are better off using a local alternative if it has more users

usually speed cameras have an indicator, which lane is the perpetrator on
and they even lift the plate of the vehicle in question automatically
chances you get a ticket are close to nil
unless you're in bulgaria, where cameras are from the 2000s

During the balkan war we drove through bulgaria and a cop stopped us and made hand gestures that we drove too fast. He apparently measured this with a hairdrier which's cables he had cut off. Well, my dad gave him a top star cola and a pack of marlboro. That was that We had a full palette of top star cola and a ton of marlboro for the cops en route

*checks the author of this post* Yep, all checks out. |
No, what we need is reasonable speed limits so we are not speeding.
Speeding doesn't automatically make your driving unsafe, it just means the speed limits are dumb as fuck and too low. |
Yet most people I see speeding think they are race drivers and can't hit an apex or have a proper exit if their life depends on it.
Let's assume your driving isn't just your mouth and you are decent... You honestly want the people around you to drive faster? The big majority on the road are shit drivers.
