Im not following this.

How does it work in the UK? the education levels or whatever u call it

in North America (i think its the same in the US, generally, in terms of grades and shit) its like this

Elemtary School (Primary School) - can either be junior kindergarden to grade 8 or jk-grade 5
Middle School - grades 5 - 8 (usually public schools, catholic schools have the jk-grade 8 deal)
Highschool - grades 9 - 12 (back in my day we had a grade 13 called OAC)
Then college or University.

Well Here we call Highschool "College"

And it goes like this (with rough ages)

Primary School
J1 (Age 5)
J2 (Age 6)
standard one (Age 7)
standard two (Age Cool
standard three (Age 9)
standard four (Age 10)

Intermediate (Althou alot of primary schools just cover this aswell)
form 1 (Age 11)
form 2 (Age 12)

College
form 3 (Age 13)
form 4 (Age 14)
form 5 (Age 15)
form 6 (Age 16)
form 7 (Optional) (Age 17)

So most people finish school when they are 17/18

Then u can go onto a billion other things

(University... Polytech... etc etc etc etc etc)

Around here, ticketed or professionally trained weldors are hard to find

Currently an assistant psychologist at a mental health hospital. It's a job share so I only have to work 17 1/2 hours a week. I also do general healthcare work on different departments to fill my time.

I'm seriously considering going back to Uni to train as a qualified mental health nurse instead of the further training needed to become a chartered clinical psychologist. It's less stressful, more sociable, and would give me a free rein on working anywhere in the world. Less money though.

Wicked.

But how do u take it when a cute little puppy dies on you?
Thats why i could never be a vet. Making the animals better and stuff is cool, but seeing abused animals and animals going through agony is just way to tough for me.

You'd be amazed what kind of 'almost-dead' dogs are sometimes brought to the clinic, weighing less than half of what they should weigh...It's really bad sometimes. And the owners response is most of the time this one: "He (or she) is like this since yesterday". Ive seen a few dogs die right in front of me while I was resuscitating them. Once I brought one back to life, that was awesome-o! It's only sad when youve taken care of that dog for a week and then it dies...you already have a small bond with them then. But don't get to excited...being a vet means doing vaccinations 70% of your time Wink

I know, but it would break my heart man...I remember when my dog died when I was kid, this little cute silky terrior, scruffy looking but cool and chillin. Broke my heart cuz they know when they are dying and they try to tell you and all that.

Just for dealing with the death of the animals, thats liike an extra oh, 20 grand, for me anyway

Your so getting used to all that, when I am on the department of pathology (we rotate to different departments every week) for a week I cut open about many dogs that week and I mean the whole dog will be spread out on 2 square meters. Saw open the skull, lay out the intestine...every part of the dog will be on a different place on the table. You get used to it. Sometimes I can be relieved that an animal is being euthanised...when you see it suffer all day long...but some owners are too stuborn (lbut thats understandable in a way) and want to try on and on with different therapies while practicaly all hope is gone and the dog or cat is doomed anyway. It's a big big difference when your own pet dies. Don't bring your work home Wink

yuck Shocked

So u have to learn animal pathology and shit? Isnt any type of pathology separate from a reg dr, in either human or animal medicine?
Like, u can be an OBGYN (general practioner) and not be a pathologist. Know what I mean?

I dunno man, what do u eat for dinner after disecting a dog? Hamburger Helper Wink Laughing
seriously tho, what do u eat for dinner after work on days like that?

I think I could get through it, the nastiness of the job, but eating afterward would be the hard part. Smile

Yes, also in veterinary medicine there are specialists Very Happy although were a couple of years behind compared to human medicine. But we get a little bit of everything now and if you're good enough you can specialise in the same directions as in human medicine ie neurology, cardiology, ...
After a week of disecting dogs and cats your hands smell horribly, but its more the smell of the gloves than of de dead animal. And I've no problems eating after days like that...just a dinner with meat. We don't live in china so there won't be dog on my plate. But seriously, sometimes a piece of muscle in the autopsy room can look tasteful! And I"m not the only one who thinks like that Wink So beware when your dog dies and you want to know what caused the death Very Happy

You know, the army isnt the way it was.

Say me and u wanted to join. If we told them that we're best friends and want to be stationed together, they will do it, no questions asked. Well, unless say your a fighter pilot and im a cook u know? Laughing

And basic training isnt like it was...rough, but they dont just put u down. If u work hard, your rewarded, if your a slacker, you get picked on.

Mind u, if u want to be a ranger or say go for the jtf2, then yeah, your in for shit.
There are 3 separate tryouts over a year or 2 just to get into JTF2...and if u pass say 2 of the tryouts or even you pass everything except say one little detail, you fail and have to do the whole thing over....not like in the SEALS where u get one chance...like u can repeat that one section of the tryouts with the next class.

I wish I would have gotten into the military. I think its an honorable job...depending on your reasoning. Wanting to defend your country and represent our values is the greatest honour.

Still, kinda pisses me off when ppl generally bash US soldiers...some are bastards and evil...but the majority are kids who a scared and they believe they are fighting for their country. Whether they are wrong or right, its commendable and you cant knock em for it.
I always respect a soldier....soldiers, like vets/ppl who have seen warfare, are the toughest, most respectable ppl around in my view.
