After Favreau's The Jungle Book made almost a billion in the box office Disney is fast-tracking a reimagining of the animated classic The Lion King also helmed by him. Songs from the original will return. No release date announced but it is noted Favreau is also working on a sequel to The Jungle Book.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Ah, another thing for Hollywood to milk until the earnings drop! Good for the economy!
Thought they were all a bit meh though. If I had to pick I think I like Maleficent best from those.
“From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way, “The Lion King” roars into theaters on July 19, 2019.”
At least they had the sense to cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa again.
The cast isn't the problem, it looks great, it's just the idea of doing this movie, that's the problem
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
This feels rather pointless to be honest (as per Hollymemberberries' tradition), but if the CGI won't be jarring and there won't be nextgen modifications and strategic genderfluid Simbas I guess it could end up being watchable. Still pointless though!
Jungle Book at least had some interesting adaptations/changes compared to the original movie. This one appears to be almost identical to the original, but with CGI animals. Seems very unnecessary indeed. Same as Dumbo. We'll see, I guess.

The original film first scene is iconic... Of course it's going to be in the remake..
