I don't know because I can't predict what bullshit the writers will pull. The rules don't apply.
We have a scene where some lousy officer try to assassinate his captain but later the Emperor just casualy spare a person from other universe because she looks like someone she loves or says she loves.
And I as a viewer I'm set in circumstances that we are in a place where only strength is respected and suddenly it doesn't matter because plot must go forward. Burnham is acting like a schisophrenic, she suppose to be this logical product of Vulkan scholarship but really makes dumb as fuck decisions.
I'm forced to sympathise with ruthless fantasy racist ruler because boohoo she lost a daughter but two episodes earlier I saw her killing a planet full of resistance fighter and kill off almost all of her council but when she is alone with Micheal she is just some pussy and good and honorable . I can't predict anything because the writers change everything so their stupid plot could be resolved.
The emperor doesn't let her live because she cares for her. Who is forcing you to sympathize with a ruthless tyrant? When did they ever show Burnham as a full logic Vulkan (a.k.a. the boring fucks)?
Multiple times it's stated that Lorca used Burnham because of Emperors weakness for her mirror counterpart.
I'm not forced to sympathise with Emperor I wrote that for space Hitler she is depicted in a contrary way. Especially in universe where dog eats dog and any sign of weakness gets you killed.

I hope it gets cancelled, the quicker this shit disappears the quicker we'll get a proper Star Trek instead of this meh sci-fi drama. Either it changes a lot for season 2 onwards or it fails spectacularly, that's my hope.
The original look was due to budget constraints. They pretty much perfected it over the years and then ... Discovery decided to throw it out.
Even if I wanted to watch Discovery, even if I gave in to its political agenda, I couldn't because those "Klingon" scenes are atrocious. I'm used to reading subtitles but
a) Klingon scenes were even dull in TNG and DS9 but they managed to make them 100 times duller
b) they take AGES and fuck up the pacing of the show
c) I heard that the entire Klingon arch is utter garbage anyway.
It's disgusting what they're doing with the Star Trek universe. There's not an ounce of Star Trek in there - it's all empty gestures, throwing names around without any meaning of what they were in the older series.
The first short trek episode sucked..they really have to be careful not to ruin the science with too much esoterical crap.
At least the descriptions of the remaining 3 eps sound more interesting, especially the Kelpian one.
Nice first season, liked it overall, though at some point wanted to quit but that alternative universe thing was a good call. And that shit love story was so annoying.
The problem with this show is the lack of build up to anything, everything is in a rush and we have time lapses. So most of the time shit just happens. The writing won't get better this season, I assume they already have a grand plan in place, so hopefully they'll improve the writing next season.

I could understand the fast pace last season, but another rush job is too much. Everyone is so hyperactive it's tiresome to watch.
