Not all games have to be well written masterpieces, it's nice to get that but as long as it's entertaining enough.

Does anyone know which file I have to delete to get this to think it's a new install? Tried deleting the whole thing and reinstalling but it didn't list off all of the included DLC at start up like it did the first time I ran it. Something caught my eye as it went through the included stuff and I wanted to see it again (wasn't the Forge but something else that made me think it had extra story content.. wasn't the weapons or outfits or resource packs either).

there is atm nothing story expanding content besides the forge, if you have all dlcs included (yarr or legit ofc) you have a few extra missions given by people around the cities. but thats it

I was secretly hoping Eidos Montreal would bring at least some rare sparks of redemption to the poor franchise, but as it turns out...nothing's essentially changed. It's a game of trolling deceptions: promising mini-hubs were introduced -> they're incredibly sterile and the secondary quests are shallower than your average Ubisofties; Lara can finally go underwater again -> these sections are mostly guided/linear and offer minimal exploration; Rhianna Pratchett is finally gone -> the new writing team achieves the unachievable by putting together a story that's just as abysmal as the previous ones ..and so on, the list would be long.
Everything still revolves around the usual cine-handholding with floaty AAAwesome platforming surrounded by mundane Crofting 'n scavenging for XP, the (pea)shooting and hamfisted stealth are still there (albeit reduced), the melodramatic soapy tone still does not suit Lara and as per tradition, the last part of the game is basically Call of Duty in third person.
I save the pleasant visuals and panoramas, the possibility to play with a noninvasive HUD (always appreciated) and well-designed optional challenge tombs, nowhere near enough for a rebootrilogy that carries the prestigious Tomb Raider name. "All full up, Can't carry anymore" [5.5XP/10]

Yeah, I kind of knew that the DLC was only challenge tomb. I'm more kind of getting irritated that something caught my eye then I missed it or instantly forgot what it said and now it's just annoying me that I can't recall what it was lol.

About the same, maybe a few decimals more. Rise had more environmental variety but also more combat sections than Shadow, whilst sharing the lousy artificial cine-spectacularization, pacing issues and uninteresting narrative.
The main problem (for me) is that the bigger focus on exploration here rarely feels rewarding since the semi-automatized controlling method and omnipresent handholding introduced with the first re-booty will never really be satisfying. The previous generation of TR games already went through a dose of bastardization when compared to the glorious classics, but they would still manage to offer enough freedom to the player. Here it's the games that play you
...and if you really want to guide me so much, at least give a good story to keep my interest alive, not a script that would rival grade-Z movies *shakes fist*

Completed the game just for the sake of playing it, haven't had high hopes, since I consider they've been stretching this reboot for too long.
Gameplay, nothing new comparing to the previous games. I was drawn to the setting, maya is fascinating. Lara is still sweet face type, unfortunately they shoved foods and sweets between games to make her look .. by today's standards

There didn't seem to be a RLS, scene or otherwise, for the last DLC, or am I just not capable of finding it?

The game usually has to be recracked from start again with new updates/dlc.

Good to know - I thought it was just a case of throwing a DLC folder in the installed directory and maybe an updated exe. I don't think anyone bothered for The Pillar then.

Devil Inside is probably the one from last month perfectly summarizing Lara's inner personal psyche and that means it's Doctor Dingberry for this month. (Shitty cartoon villain time!)

The game keeps crashing in dx12 mode. dx11 works perfectly in this regard. Alas, fps sucks when playing in dx11.
Supposedly beta patches fix this, but I'm playing a cpy version
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

Man this game was such a let down, short, the fighting was far too infrequent and insanely easy. Weapon upgrades were not needed. In fact I really don't think I should have bothered with any scavenging as I rarely ever ran out of bullets or anything else.
Story was pooper. Couldn't get into it and it ended so quick and in an anticlimactic fashion that it left me with herpes.
I give it meh/10

The story is neither better nor worse than in the previous two games.
The tombs and riddles are much better than in the previous 2 games.
Actually, this game is much closer to the old TR games than the previous two ones.
I don't get it. First gamers complained the reboot was too actiony, and the tombs sucked. They reduced fights in the last game and made most of the tombs really good, so players complain now that there is not enough combat. I guess they got used to the actiony parts of the previous games?
