Things have changed for sure, I remember when even you guys were all against digital.
I don't mind either, both digital and physical have downsides.
I went digital this gen for almost everything because i usually never resell games, and buying games in the US PSN is still cheaper/about the same price as physical.

Pretty sure some games read from the disc during play like maybe streaming music or something?

Nope.
What you probably experienced is the “play go” function which allows you to boot up the game after a mini install (or download if digital).
During that time it will continue downloading / installing the game, but when it reaches 100% it’s never read ever again.

Not surprising that you need to install both discs before playing the game.
Most likely Disc 1 acts as a DLC, and disc 2 as the game pkg.
So when you boot up the game, it will mount disc1 & 2 pkg.

SO...leaks have started.
There's a partial map, couple of pics and a twenty second gameplay vid floating around. I won't post links as they're getting removed at haste and also don't want to spoil anything, but I'm sure you'll be able to find them without too much trouble. I looked at the map and pics, but didn't want to watch the video. Sounds like there has been a minor graphics downgrade though, lots of talk of lower textures, clipping. Kind of expected - I doubt it will spoil the game.

Do we know if the footage is from ps4 standard, pro, xbox one or x?

Yes, that. The other is just a console peasant controller aid. 
But the slomo shit that wasn't even exciting, just a stray bullet hitting a man, looks ridiculous. Hopefully can be disabled in options.

Probably PS4 Pro and will get some XO controller adapter. I don't care about wireless, so I saw there are many options. The games tipped it off. I saw the VR platformer that looks a lot like Mario Odyssey and drooled a little, so might get that as well.
