It gets a bit repetitive, but I haven't played past the Athens missions storywise. Just hunting Cultists, searching ruins for ancient tablets and exploring the map.

One more advice: All the white and blue weapons u pick up and most of the purple, get them to a blacksmith to sell.
Then buy ressources with the money. He gives u a ton of money for even simple gear.

If you don't find good new stuff with the right attributes, you gotta pay a shitload of Drachmae and res to keep your gear up to date.

You can do that as well in Odyssey, it's just more efficient to sell them and buy res from the blacksmith.

You need several 1000s of stuff to upgrade your ship to full. Raid 3-4 Forts and camps and you should have some gear to sell, which gives you like 800-2000 a piece.

I even sell all weapons other than a sword and a spear and I have a look at the purple stuff before selling. there is an upgrade sometimes, though you need to balance it all out. I skilled for Fire and Crit, all Bonus-Assassin-DMG comes from skills.

The fun skills are unlocked with the spear-upgrades, so I would advise hunting cultists to get more fragments early.

Nah man, that's a matter of preference. Third person games just feel more natural with a controller for me. Wink

No emulators. Don't know about the controller support, will check it later, but until now it worked perfectly fine for every other game (including Origins). It's not unplayable though, just a bit annoying.

Just beat the cultist storyline, and it's shit.

Who the main cultist is was pretty obvious and it was no red herring.

Then it just spat me back out into the world with no real closure and no motivation to do any of the boring sidequests.

It was fun while it lasted but really lacks content.

They also need to get rid of the current parkour thing where it's just hold X and then climb on anything except trees. It's lame.

No puzzles as well except for some light beam ones that show up twice. And there's nothing smart about those puzzles either.

Fall damage needs to come back along with viewpoint puzzles.

Next AC, they should just shrink down to a single county (or a really small duchy) and the outlying towns, then fill that stuff with quality content and writing.

Maybe make the assassination missions play more like Hitman with numerous ways to go about it instead of this one where it's just run up to cultist and stab him then hit him with weapon if your weak ass assassination skills didn't kill him.

It's a fairly average game, entertaining for a while but as usual for Ubi, quickly becomes a chore.

But I'm a sucker for antiquity so that's why I got it.

That's also a interesting little diversion from Origins, that game had tits on just about everything (Cats too!) and female nudity spread all over the game world.

This one has all females being covered but there's dick just about everywhere. Razz
(Female statues and fresco artwork is covered up too, not so much for the male art in the game though.)

Haven't gotten into ass studies yet though, main characters looks to have the same shared body model with a few.. well they basically add breasts to Kassandra and some of the armor designs probably differ slightly. (They have the exact same scars even. Probably the same texture so the UV is likely based on the same model only with some tweaks)

It's not completely identical for the 3D mesh but the texture certainly looks to be the same which would mean the basic mesh is also shared although modified for male and female shapes. I need to see what I can get out of it with some other tools before I can confirm but at least they *have* changed the animations between Alexios and Kassandra to not be 100% the same though dialogue and everything else is identical although each actor ad-libs a bit differently and the tone is a bit different between scenes but it's a purely visual choice with some tweaking.

Actually quite surprised that the animations aren't recycled or identical between the two character choices and I think there's one set of armor that also differs between them.

Game isn't all too stable when you poke around in the textures and shaders however, that makes it a bit harder to dig into this properly.

EDIT:
Actually I think Alexios has chest hair so the diffuse would be a bit different, hopefully.
(Managed to get it down to the painted-on underwear before it crashed but it's not very stable when you poke around with the shaders as mentioned so not the easiest to root around with.)

Ubisoft needs to work on some kind of hysteresis and rate control in their resource manager; it is not DRM contrary to popular belief that causes high CPU load on PC, but insane driver overhead caused by really naïve resource management for such a vast open-world game.

It is open source. Smile
(EDIT: https://gitlab.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/commits/0.10.xdr )

There were early attempts at countering piracy for Nier and Fallout 4 eventually though this is down to just a check for the Steam API .dll since particularly for some of the earlier Steam cracks the modified .dll lacks features and functions that SpecialK tries to use and it crashes.
(Earlier versions had other stuff, I would need to read up on exactly what it was again but a number of different methods before it turned into this.)

Author also commented the lines where this is handled so it's easy to remove and the config settings you need to disable are also commented such as for using the utility without the Steamworks functionality and allowing for compatibility even if the modified .dll doesn't have features for the Steam community and what not so just flip that setting to false and done.

Biggest thing was probably the two Steam users blocked but from how I remember this it was using the Steam API itself to do this and I haven't checked although I am fairly certain this is also removed now in the newer versions.
(Just uses the Steam API user ID and functions from that so nothing custom.)

Never really made sense, neither of these users were using or supportive of the utility so this block served no purpose really.

EDIT: That should be the entire code I believe.

And commentary for the reasoning and such and that you can just disable the config setting and skip it all.

And then for the config file it's this.
https://gitlab.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/blob/0.10.xdr/src/config.cpp
Quote:

// Swashbucklers pay attention
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

ConfigEntry (steam.log.silent, L"Makes steam_api.log go away [DISABLES STEAMAPI FEATURES]", dll_ini, L"Steam.Log", L"Silent"),
ConfigEntry (steam.cloud.blacklist, L"CSV list of files to block from cloud sync.", dll_ini, L"Steam.Cloud", L"FilesNotToSync"),
ConfigEntry (steam.drm.spoof_BLoggedOn, L"Fix For Stupid Games That Don't Know How DRM Works", dll_ini, L"Steam.DRMWorks", L"SpoofBLoggedOn"),
};

(Steam.Log and the Spoof thing to off and that's about all that should be needed.)

EDIT: That's for the main version though, stand-alone for some of the older projects running on non-updated code well that's going to use some other things.
(Berseria, Symphonia and Zestiria primarily, most of the newer plugins are built into the main files by now and work with the latest version although with some exceptions.)
