Maybe diesel, but not Gasoline(which is the most cars I am seeing).. U still pay less for the Fuel.

you pay a lot less for the car

let's say comparable non-hybrid gasoline car eats 1,5l more on 100km (which is debatable, sometimes is better)
how much do you need to go before you are even when you paid 5-10k eur more for the hybrid model? (if bought new)
that's more than 250,000-500,000 km..

I'm not saying hybrid cars aren't efficient, but they have a lot of way to go before they become competitive

I tested Few Kia's diesels recently.. Maybe it's the car Size or the car itself, but when the cars were fully Fueled the range wasn't that higher then Gasoline cars..

I think the max was around 780km..

The Hybrid I use to drive when fully Fueled is almost always above 800km range(because its part electric it's charge some if the energy while driving).

In fact, Just yesterday it's only consumed Fuel amount of 19 km when I drove around 49km in general so It could easily drive around 900-1000 km.

Then Again, in our community that I live most cars are Kia, I don't know how Fuel effective other companies are, But I heard Kia are decent.

well you can't only look at range
you need to look at fuel tank too

my compact diesel car makes ~1000km a tank (out of city)
but an BMW 5 series could also make 1000km a tank (example)

difference is my tank is 45l but the BMW's is 65l

I can compromise in range for a good electric one as long it can still go 400-500km.

Can't wait for Kia EV, they should selling it outside Korea by the end of the year and 2019.

and around ~500km range per charge is more then enough for most people.

It's basically the same as The Hybrid model Except that it's full electric, the problem is, it is even heavier then the Hybrid.. buy 200k more.. making it around 1700k.

I've been looking around for a new mid-sized car for a while and it's getting more and more difficult to find one within my budget of 35k€.
My first thought was the new Insignia but the MMI sucks in it. It literally looks ancient for a car released in 2017.
Then I thought that I'll get a second-round Lexus IS hybrid. They usually come by with around 50k km mileage and have proper service history with good warranty for the hybrid system. But good ones are scarce.
Kia Optima is super petrol hungry for some reason but it looks good. Proceed looks to be a bit small.
Now next year, we get the new Camry hybrids after 15 years again (for our market).
AND Insignia finally has gotten better MMI as an optional and a new petrol engine.

ahhh... so hard to get a new car Sad

VAG is overpriced. Except for Škoda. I don't like the interior design that much, otherwise they would be a good alternative.
Japanese are boring.

In which way Japanese cars are boring, performance wise?

A part from the ones I listed... yes and no.
I look for a balance between design and performance. I do 90% urban driving so I really don't need a rocket but some lazy crawler is also out of the question.

Second car or got bored of your Lexus? IMHO I love the design of the new Mazda 3's. Be sure to buy a never make, as the pre face life model had rust issues.

Ah... pulled the trigger with Insignia 5D version. New MMI system and better discount sealed the deal.

Anyone here have any experience with 2008-2010 S5s? Really itching to buy one next year.

Or any tips for cars in the same performance/price(2008 S5s are going anywhere between 13-20k € here) range to look out for? I like the 335i too, but leaning towards an S5 right now.

The TFSI engines are garbage atleast, oil consumption and timing chain problems, expensive ones too.
Any newer VAG car really, complete garbage. Diesels have heads cracking and connecting rods splitting your block in half and petrol engines with the above problems.

EDIT: I read A5, not S5. I'm not sure about the six cylinders if they share the shitty timing chains and oil consumption with the smaller TFSI engines.

So like a GS450H? I have no experience with Lexus whatsoever and only know about the IS-F which is sadly a bit out of my current price range. Only heard and read good things about Lexus, so I'll keep my out.

So I was stuck between the BMW F36 LCI (430d) and G30 (525d) but now that the new G20 has been "released" I made a choice... now they only need to get that 330d engine on the road and I'll order it.

Do old, C segment cars matter here or poor miserable people have other topic?
I've finally upgraded from my 2001 ford focus which have everything broken down (aside from the engine!).

KC can finally into automatic! I've bought 2008, petrol engine, 1.6 automatic Hyundai i30 with 174k kilometers.
It's not the top of the world but it's still a lot of money in polandball and it's pretty nice. Even air conditioning works, remote door locking works and it finally takes usb with mp3's Laughing It's weird having a car with no rust and everything working... Even audio controls in steering wheel! (crazyyyyy)

Now, why did nobody told me before that driving automatic is so simple and fun? No clutch means that car is not rolling downhill, is super easy and fast to drive around the city and it's rally a hassle free experience for car haters like me.
This might seem like a weird thing to say buy Polish people only buy: manual, combi(station wagon google translate), german diesel cars. Everyone have volkswagen passat, opel or old bmw/audi. I grew so sick and tired of seeing all the same cars on the street and hearing "don't buy automatic because it's shit and will cost You a fortune to repair" from everyone (who never drove automatic) that it was my principle goal to find a petrol fuel, not combi, not german car Laughing
 Spoiler:

Now can someone tell me - do I only park on "P" ? Or can I park on "N" or "D" too? do I have to hold breaks when starting up a car on "P"? Can I start a car on "N" or "D" with holding break pedal ?

Thanks! Tips are appreciated. I need to find a mechanic who will check the automatic transmission oil without ripping me off... Oil age and level in gearbox should be ok since previous owner said he did every repairs and oils at authorized place. Definitely a thing to check.

From reading the article I am still not sure if I can park on N with handbrake lever pulled and they say something about coolant fluid changing but not much. I never had to change or add more coolant in manual. Is automatic different?
