|
 |
I built a new PC a while back with i7 8700 (Non K), 16GB RAM and Samsung EVO 970 SSD. Got a Dell U2415 from last year having a resolution of 1920x1200. Now I won't be buying a new monitor for a good while so am stumped about which Graphic card to buy for 1200p.
Which card would last a good while running even demanding games at max settings (but will keep AA at max 2x or at most 4x) without me forced to buy a new card? Have a flexible budget for now but not sure how long that will last
1 and 2 are still amazing.

A used 1080ti should get you lots of mileage. Prices are going down due to the new generation coming out.

For that resolution a 1070 should be just fine. A 1080 is way overkill.

1200p Monitor here aswell.
Personally, I'd get at least a 1080. The higher memory bandwith gives the card a bit more futureproofness over both the 1070 and the 1070 Ti. In my opinion, the 1080 is the 1070 of the last year, in terms of performance.
A title like AssCreed: Odyssey really eats gpus for breakfast. Badly optimized, yes, but even 1080s struggle for 60FPS@1080p.
Granted, the card is still a bit too expensive. It should be around 400€.
I personally use a Vega 64, since I got it really cheap. The card is really nice but it needs a bit of tinkering to find the best settings (UV/OC). So I dont recommend it to people who just want to plug and play.

1070/Ti or 1080/Ti. Either of those 4 depending on your budget and how much you're willing to invest. 1080/1080Ti will be more future proof than the 1070'ies but are obviously more expensive. Ignore the RTX cards unless you won the lottery and can go for a 2080Ti (the 2080 is pretty useless since it's performance is basically the same as the 1080Ti).

The 1070 is expensive as hell in Sweden (imo). ~€470-€480+

I was thinking of getting a 1070ti or a 1080. Cheapest 1070ti are currently ~430€ while the cheapest 1080s are ~480-500€. Why exactly is the 1080 more future proof?

It has more memory bandwith.

Thanks guys, I guess I will focus on a 1080 or Ti then considering the valid points you all make regarding it lasting longer than 1070. If only I had known to purchase the card last year
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Need help as well. Posted in the other thread but none of you said anything. Now I'm sad, look:
Anyway, there is this guy that puts announcements up every now and then, but just for publicity, not actually selling through ebay: https://www.ebay.es/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_ssn=yntaly&_armrs=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.X1080.TRS0&_nkw=1080&_sacat=0
I did contact him once to see what's up and this is what he told me:
Quote: | The product are still available, have full warranty, are still sealed in their original box and they come with all accessories.
I sell at a low price because I had a business and went bankrupt.
I want to sell everything very quickly, and I sell throughout Europe

Is it actually fishy or I am I just being paranoid and it's safe to do it the way he wants? At what he sells the 1080ti models it's very tempting to get one right now, but there is the above issue at hand. His link doesn't even exist I'm pretty sure, so yeah...

Heh... well, thanks for clarifying that.
I still need some help. Is it safe to buy a used 1080ti? Even like that I feel like they go for a bit too much and there's the whole auction aspect of most of them on ebay. They are under 600 which is where I've decided to draw the line, so if there is a really nice offer I will pay up to that limit, but obviously, I'd rather pay less.
Could someone show me some offers that are worth going for so I know what to look for?
Otherwise, as new, the normal 1080 is about the price of the used 1080tis that I see on ebay, here at least. If it's not worth the risk to go for a used card I'll probably end up getting one of those.
But I am waiting for a bit still, mostly to see what the 2070 is going to be priced at here compared to the 1080 and also in performance I suppose.
EDIT: As an idea for those that didn't see my other posts, I got a monitor with Gsync that can handle 1440p, so that's what I aim to push for in most games, shitty optimized ones excluded...

I'd go with 1070 or 1070 Ti - that's the sweet spot for price/performance - I got one myself two weeks ago and pretty happy. They're relatively cool and quiet GPUs.

for 1200p a 1050ti would even suffice if u dont want all the highest settings ( which if u are competitive, u dont want to put on anyway) and ull save a ton of money on power. Money to save up for a 42 inch tv that u can get for like 300 euro
1050ti doesnt even need a power cable , its that efficient. saves u like a 100 euro a year easy on top of the 200 euro u save on purchasing it compared to the other cards + warranty if u buy new
