It's sort of out right now actually... There is currently only one host and one of the 3 files is not downloadable right now.
They're working on getting a torrent up.
Edit: Torrent is up.

The new music is such a massive upgrade the game is breathtaking and the music now matches the visuals perfectly can't wait to play further later today (damn work...).

Great, are all tracks replaced?
I heard that not every track had an orchestral version, is that true?

True yeah but it's only 12 out of the 77 tracks in the game which do not have a orchestrated version and none of them are used very often so you probably won't really notice it too much.

Nope, you can jump in with this one. Just make sure to install the orchestral music mod.

the composer doesnt like orchestral n his games and instead likes the midi and he has the finaly say in it .... Then he releases the orchestral by himself separately

He doesn't like it in games and has the final say.. Yet, it's in the japanese version.

its not (at least in case of DQ11), the orchestra version is just released separately
only in JP because the publisher of the tokyo metro orchestra is not licensed to distribute its recordings outside of japan.

The Composer Sugiyama holds all the rights to the music and does not allow any other version then midi to be used in the games because he wants to sell his CDs with the orchestrated version and of course the tickets for his concerts (he doesn't really give concerts outside of Japan btw)
He’s done every DQ game since DQ1 in 1986, along with Hori and Toriyama. His themes are intrinsically linked to the series, it wouldn’t be the same with different music. And as i said hee owns every piece of music written for the series.
This very game is comprised about half of music from previous games. If they ended their relationship with him, he could revoke the license for the Dragon Quest overture (among others), and fans would riot. The DQ Overture is an extremely important piece of music culturally. It's even played at schools at the end of day sometimes.

Sugiyama is a delusional old person who denies WW2 ever happened, and that the Japanese were wrongly persecuted for their supposed involvement, and that he didn't want the West to ever have the pleasure of his music.
Or so the story goes.
edit: dear god there are some retards on the Steam forums, complaining that the mod devs didn't give clear instructions ... on how a magnet link works Seriously...

That's fine, as long as most of them aren't midi anymore.

The only remaining MIDI tracks never had an orchestral version anyway (why I have no idea...) It sounds glorious, it's like a whole new game.

well i made the mistake of playing the game without the monster draconian difficulty ruleset thinking i could change difficulty at any time at churches (or that it would be ok on normal). about four hours into the game i realize the difficulty is just not there and fuck, i can't just turn up the difficulty? shit design - why make people restart a linear RPG just to change monster hp/damage?
thankfully some bros on a random cheat forum already hacked this shit to bits and now i have the difficulty setting enabled.. i have no idea why they would bother locking difficulty in such a way. i shiver to think of all the poor bastards that have come before me and played 100 hours or some shit on "normal" difficulty simply because they couldn't change the menu option after coming to the same realization a few hours into the game.

I've been playing it for 6 hours or so, I think it has a great start. There's nothing innovative here and nothing is really awesome, but it is strangely addictive. The kotaku guy was spot on imo. I like the small hints of what to come in the game world, a great idea, keeps you interested.
This is my first DQ game, it oozes respect and love for game design. Not worth full price for me atm, but I'll probably buy it when it's 50% off for support.
I only use the tougher monsters thing and it's challenging enough. I only engage in combat when I feel like it though, so I'm probably underleveled.

Yeah it's not bad - feels a bit boring initially i guess (like every DQ since they seem so generic), but it's all-around solid. Dragon Quest IX (psp) actually hit me pretty hard because it seemed like such a generic dull as fuck game, but it was a really great game. XI is not quite as fun but it's getting addictive for me already, with the added bonus of some really nice environments and animation.

haha i aced them first pop, got seriously lucky i think.. eriks firebullshit pep did the majority of the damage during the fight while i was blocking and otherwise just trying to survive.
in a way i'd prefer the harder monster rules didn't apply to bosses, because they're always a fucking trainwreck in terms of balance and i have a tendency to quit when the going gets really tough - although i didn't turn on lowered exp so i can always grind my way to victory if necessary.

Yeah i also thought about enabling lowered xp as well but decided against it, harder monsters alone makes this one of the hardest jrpgs i played in a long time.

i think if you enable lowered exp, you're really just doing a dis-service to yourself. when running around collecting materials and things, it's nice to get some benefit (not much) out of fighting lower levelled enemies instead of just wasting your time.

Yeah it doesn't make the game any harder anyway just more tedious since your tactical options are extremely limited at the start so grinding is your only option to beat early game bosses on hard.

Usually Japanese rpgs are way too easy, the games you are talking about must be from the 80s/90s because apart from the Souls games and some Atlus games i don't remember any other recent hard rpgs from there.
