Next to but not entirely unassisted as I had to use a FAQ for finding some encounters after traveling up and down the city district areas a few times and not having much luck finding the last few of these (The in-game completion list was really helpful for a overview though.) and especially for the mini-games (Yeah the AI cheats, that was made very clear.) and I couldn't do the very last optional fight because I'm not too good at brawlers in general and I wanted to avoid resorting to cheating just for having completed it. Smile

EDIT: Ah right I keep forgetting ABLoad.de doesn't work on this forum due to a life-time block on their end.

That dude really stole the show in the scenes he was in.

EDIT: Though not that the other characters are that much worse or anything, they do really good with their roles too and the attention to detail is really impressive from subtle animations and the over-the-top shouting and staring before fighting to just the scenes overall and then the story too works really well for a video game.
Heard the latest installments pull a few crazy twists and turns but things felt more grounded here or at least in my experience having wrapped it up though there's room for craziness too. Smile

That's great. I mean, those Japanese specific mini-games are a pain to complete, especially if you're new to these mechanics.

I'm still carving me way up on the PS4 with 94% completion right now. Last night I fired up Climax Battles and boy some of those challenges are insane, but really tests your skill and patience.

This is one game where you can come back even after a long hiatus and still feel at home. I'd definitely tie it up with being the best game of all times with Witcher 3 (personal opinion). Smile

What I dislike so far is the decline in difficulty. That first boss kicked my ass about 15 times and I haven't had anything like it since

Well i guess it's mostly just cause you don't have a lot of skills/hp boosts levelled when you face him, it's pretty easy to out lvl anything later in the game.

Kuze is fucking awesome!

I mean his look is so menacing and he really invokes fear as a Yakuza boss. I went through their interviews for the voice overs and it's great to see they retained the mo-cap exactly the same as their real life counterparts.

The only ones I genuinely had trouble with (and by trouble I mean skill level: Asian REQUIRED) was the goddamn Disco and Baseball ones.

Bowling and Karaoke played great. Darts I kind of figured out (though it still controlled strangely). Pool I couldn't be bothered (just a dull game). The club hostess stuff was very straightforward once you figured out the symbology behind it (X, triangle, circle, double circle, in order from worst to best, just because apparently). The catfighting, while definitely cheap, always kept me at the edge of my seat. It's a shame they changed that one to some stupid "bug fight" mini-game in Kiwami. Totally ruins the vibe. Sad

Well bugs with tits and ass. And in the Yakuza world it's a kid's game. lol

It's all about reusing assets. That's the other thing the series is known for. It's very Japanese efficiency. Laughing

Yea, I know. It's just that the underground catfight ring was far more believable (and the outfits skimpier Very Happy ). The whole bug "theme" is stupid and takes the fun out of it.

Same here, especially the fucking disco. Since i needed to beat some woman to get her to host in my club and after 10 attempts almost threw my controller at the wall.
Second was for the Media King (or whatever the last one) so i lost 10% of course, so i didn't even complete the real estate shit, because it would take fucking ages.

For those wondering about all the Pachinko places that are littered around the city in the game, here's an interesting little documentary I found regarding it. Basically, it's like a hopped up version of vertical pinball where you have far less control over the ball, and many more balls! Very Happy

Kinda off-topic I know, but I found it cool.

Would be nice to see all of them ported over eventually, console and PC with remasters as needed.

Seems Yakuza Kiwami 2 is now using the newer engine from Yakuza 6 too but I don't think there's any set release date for the PC port though it should be out on console now.

Accompanied by this little launch video.

Haven't played them but I guess they're going to Majima the hell out of the old games from the looks of things if they do port them all to newer platforms. Very Happy

I had not being keeping up with Yakuza Kiwami 2 since who knows when it might land on PC but I watched that trailer and was pleasantly surprised to see a few of my favorite NJPW stars (Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono) show up. Now if they have the Great Muta as the boss for that side quest it would be great since that is Mutoh's most famous wrestling persona and could easily fit in with all the craziness that makes Yakuza so much fun.

Same here. My favorite minigame in 0 and Kiwami. In 6 it was the small town baseball league one which made up half of my Yakuza 6 play time.

This. At one point, I almost forgot I had to progress through the rest of the plot and got so involved in raising their stats and going through their sub-stories. Honestly, this is definitely the most well designed mini-game (?). Very Happy

In my experience it earns a lot less, though I only did it to unlock the Mad Dog style and then stopped. Maybe if you do all the training stuff for the girls it lets you earn more? I never bothered with that apart from 1 or 2 because I was never a fan of the hostess club minigame since 4.

Mister Moneybag can be found loaded up with up to a hundred million so beating him down if you get that down to routine helps a fair bit but for Majima it usually means mastering the combat and unlocking the upgrades and additional combat styles, there's the fight club as well but I don't think it pays quite as well although the money-men are sorta mini-boss encounters over regular fights.

With a few more shrine upgrades though you can encounter some really profitable random group battles too and get pretty good payout even from regular fights. Smile
(But these take time to unlock as you get various goals and little by little progress through these earning some really good perks but at a really slow pace once the initial upgrades are unlocked and the rest increase in cost.)

EDIT: You don't want him to step on you though if you get downed or that's a pretty damaging attack for each of these types and it costs money as well from each time you get hit.

And like other upper tier enemies ranged weapons are not quite as effective so no golden-gunning the dude down somehow non-lethal like.
(As I recall at least, pretty sure I tried.)

EDIT:

Totally non-lethal. Razz

Good thing this game series seemingly inverts cutscene powered and people actually do die during cutscenes instead of power tripping...occasionally. Sometimes they do both and sometimes the amazing Japanese business suit protects against even extreme internal damage

Yeah the club management is a bit more involved than the businesses in real estate and you still need to go through it to unlock the various style upgrades.
Real estate is fairly passive overall too besides the occasional money battle and the gang in some area blocking the countdown until dealt with whereas the hostess one is a full on mini game sending the right person to the right hostess and keeping mechanics like fatigue in place.

Plus you have to do it five or so times against each club and similar to estates there's a boss for every one but it's a lot more busywork to get to that dude.

EDIT: Though there's some mini-stories weaved in but yeah it's a grind.
