The reviews on Steam are fairly mixed pointing out progression blockers and confusing design decisions or just taking away functions and returning them once you've cleared some other quest but for that quest you might have to solve a few other things first.

Sounds like it could be really good though after some patches and feedback but not completely dumbing down the entire experience of course. Smile

Played the isodemo a bit. Seem to suffer from the same problem as Punch Club, it starts out really intriguing, have lots of fun developing you character, and then the grind sets in, and you spend hours gathering resources only to refine them into higher level resources that you'll end up using on a marginal upgrade. Also, everything eats up your stamina in the blink of an eye. In SV the energy system felt really well balanced, if I had to go to bed early it was because I made an error, and it never felt like the game was forcing me to halt whatever task I was doing. Here you spend most of the game time walking between whatever you're doing and your bed. Oh, and having no way to run is a real bummer. The map is too big for the walk speed we're given. Not ridiculously too big, but just barely big enough that walking around will become a boring hassle.

All the elements of a great game are there, but they just don't click together as well as they did in SV. First few hours can be fun, but it will become more of a chore rather quickly.

@zmed As far as walking is concerned, a patch does add a teleport stone. It has 2 locations to start with: your home and the tavern.

I did devote quite a few hours to this game but decided to delete it since it became pure grinding. I also disliked that the people you need to progress a quest are only available on certain days which means you often have to wait a week to progress a quest if you didn't have the items they require. And you usually won't have them. To me, the game became extremely boring and tedious. I'll see what My Time at Portia brings to the table. It does get grindy but at least there's more varying stuff to do.

Graveyard Keeper is many things. But at the end of a hard working day, when you draw the line you probably will only remember the grind. The developers have responded quickly, making changes based on the community’s feedback. However, the nature of the game cannot be changed. So, if you like to keep busy doing the work of twenty all by yourself, you’ll find plenty to do as a graveyard keeper.

Pros:
+ The gameplay can be weirdly addictive
+ The setting
+ Dark humor
+ Lovely pixel art

Cons:
– Grind, grind, grind
– Underdeveloped combat
– Stuttering
