No DLC news yet? Sad

Hard mode was a requested feature but I don't think the developers has said anything on adding this, the game starts out pretty easy and becomes even more so as you get stronger equipment and more abilities plus more gold for both your party and the kingdom than you could ever spend.

Even the post-game isn't too troublesome other than some of the very last bosses as a result.
No word on either of the two DLC packs too I think, I'd say probably but it's more along the lines of hopefully that means they'll be more content heavy.

The game is woefully under developed after all with dungeon designs and whole regions being little more than filler or almost entirely unused, something definitively happened during development but no idea what that might have been, budget perhaps or just time.
(There's the kingdom system but it's also very simplistic and more of a way to add 100+ quests to the game since every citizen has one or two tasks you need to accomplish.)

Version 1.03

  • New difficulty modes added: Hard and Expert. You can choose how hard you want your challenge to be when you select “New Game” from the title screen, or by entering the in-game options menu at any time. Three difficulty levels are available: Normal, Hard, and Expert. The higher the setting, the harder the battles will be, but this will be offset by rarer treasures from monsters, from the chests in the Faraway Forest, and certain other places. You’ll also be able to access the true potential of accessories, with monsters occasionally dropping ones with two skills! (This won’t affect any you already own.)
Maximum quality level of equipment drops expanded (in Hard or higher).
Chances of rare item drops increased (in Hard or higher).

  • New equipment skills added.
  • Rare accessories with second skill slot added.
  • Various other game balance issues and minor bugs have also been addressed.
A bug that allowed the airship to land in places where it should not be able to land has been fixed.
Steam version only: A bug that made the player unable to control the camera at specific screen resolutions has been fixed.

Is this actual increase in difficulty ala more enemies and with new AI or new skills, or is it just making them damage sponges?

Is there a patch to replace the furry with a normal human like in the previous game? Cool Face

1 and 2 are still amazing.

More health and damage, if the video above is similar to what I watched then that's about the gist of it and even hard and expert eventually get really easy since you drown in money and items even early on and get a shit-load of experience leveling up after just a few battles over and over.

Yeah it might be a sponge but it just makes it take longer to bring it down.

Ah, well guess I won't be booting it up yet lol as that would make combat tedious for me.

How else would you increase the difficulty in such games? Other than high damage and HP, there is not much can be changed. Maybe more enemy power spam but people will complain about that too.

With more HP and damage, you will have to use your resources/powers properly instead of spamming.

Ys series had a decent idea, increase speed and make enemies use more varied attacks plus bosses getting additional attacks entirely. Less reliance on hp bloat though this can still be a issue as well.

Improving "AI" is a common suggestion but when the AI rushes down the player controlled character ignoring all else most of the time there's not too much to work with there and the game has very simplistic combat overall making it hard to implement reliance on dodging, blocking, parrying or counters along with more varied speed or attack moves when these barely even exist.

free “Adventuer Pack” add-on for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will launch on August 9, followed by the two larger add-ons that are part of the Season Pass later this winter and in early 2019, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Level-5 announced.

Here is an overview of each add-on, via Bandai Namco:
  • Adventure Pack (free) – The Adventure Pack provides new challenges for experienced players. It adds additional floors to the Faraway Forest cave, upon clearing, players will be rewarded with new costumes for Evan and other characters. Players will have the opportunity to challenge themselves with even stronger new bosses: Blackhart and Zeta. Additional quests will be unlocked after completing the story and unique rewards can be acquired.
  • Season Pass DLC #1 – Available this winter, this DLC will feature a brand new enigmatic dungeon for players to explore. Evan and friends will plumb the depths of this cryptic dungeon facing increasingly stronger enemies while trying to reach its deepest levels. The journey will be difficult, but the reward will surely be worth it!
  • Season Pass DLC #2 – Expected to release early 2019, an additional story expansion of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will be available full of exciting content. More details to be announced soon.

Adventure pack and #1 DLC to be just more generic dungeons, thanks but no thanks.
I bought and liked the game overall but the empty copy pasta dungeons were the most dissapointing part of it just as in FFXV. I highly doubt that the #2 DLC will be worth getting the season pass, but who knows maybe it'll be 2nd Blood and Wine

Hmm... Played for an hour. The fights are kind of "smash that button dude, smash it till you drop" and the entire game is too childish/cutesy for me. Well made and great graphics though (in it's style).

Prepare to face the Nightmares, encounter a legendary spell book, and enter the arena for the Solosseum Slog!

"The Tale of a Timeless Tome" DLC comes to Ni no Kuni II on March 19th!

The starting point of this adventure is a mysterious appearance in a dream. People staying at the Goldpond Inn claim to be visited by an enigmatic rabbit in their sleep. Upon hearing this rumor, Evan and his friends decide to stay at the hotel to investigate and unveil the mystery. They enter a dream together, step into a strange house and meet the Conductor, a rabbit in a tuxedo and a top hat. To those who played the original game, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, both the house and the Conductor will be familiar. The Conductor’s role in this story, however, remains to be discovered!
