just copy the XCI to the root of your SD card with SX OS.
If you wanna use LayeredFS, check the tutorials section on Gbatemp.

Im pretty much demoing before i buy games since you cant update or play online without a possible risk of ban.

Right now in gba temp the bans seem to be game specific at the moment.

So how does it work with the updates, you just let them download on the switch as long as you re not online during gameplay or eshop? Or is there a way to transfer updates to your SD card externally?

With SX OS you can update the games fine at the moment. However, doesn't mean you won't end up getting banned as they know the cart ID of the game you're updating, and know it's a copy.
Right now I guess if you don't care about getting banned, then just get banned and update etc. By the time you're actually banned, IF they lock down update functionality, then there will be by then another option to get updates installed.
Basically, if you don't care about online, I don't think there are any problems right now.
I'm personally very tempted to buy the SX OS - 27 USD translates to about 20 GBP here... question is whether or not there is any point - will there be a crack or a different backup loader in the next week or two? Maybe...

I dont think they ban consoles. Just ids. If they ban a console it doesnt stop a pirate selling it for 200, and getting a new one. Leaving a banned console on the market. It would be a bad pr move for nintendo especially with the switch. So far, bans are game specific and only permas are from leeching off of cdn.

They indeed only ban the device ID from the dauth & aauth servers so far. They could do more but if they don't then you are only banned from the eShop and online play.
Some people already got banned, reasons seems multiple, including people that only used homebrew now.
There was a banhammer today, I wasn't affected but I probably will anyway and I Don't care.
You can still install updates (again so far, they can change that).
@Stormwolf : seems like you don't listen to me, I already told you you won't ever get a USB helper as is simply because it's impossible. You will get a similar app (it already exists, you are probably banned from Google too  ) (see the word : SIMILAR, in before JackQ links me to a SIMILAR app. SIMILAR =/ IDENTICAL).
And you'll have to dump your own valid SSL cert (that is not banned, but they don't ban them for now, so everything is fine).
Nobody will share them, you will have to dump them from your Switch.
Now will they let us get away and leech from their CDN with banned consoles cert ? This remains to be seen. So far so good ! (so far = they only ban a deviceID, like 3DS & Wii U).
But again, if you listen to me, you should have understood now that the infracture is completely different than these 2 consoles and they can ban "more".
But maybe they won't and Nintendo are nice to us ?!?
Finally even if they ban everything, technically in the future one could share his game updates from an unbanned Switch. For now you cannot install them from another console but I'm sure they will be done one day (this is doable and not impossible).
Hopefully that clears things up, sometimes it seems like I write a lot, and only 1 line is read.

Seems the common denominator is layeredfs at the moment.
And anything else that sends error reports to nintendo for some reason. Accessing dev menu also gets you banned.
Core executer users arent banned yet and can update their games.

BTW mario tennis is cart2 so TX OS won't "see" the XCI sadly.
But it works with Fortnite + LayeredFS, just tried.

Played the demo for tennis reminded me of virtua tennis in the fun aspect. Will prolly buy it for my second switch by christmas.
Seems like sxos ban are few in between and may be safest option. By the time mine get delivered well have sxos2.0 lol.

Eventually it will. Isnt card2 fairly new? They just gotta figure out where/how its stored on the cart itself.

So sad that you have yet to instabuy a Switch though ? I'm not sure the reasoning with "I'll wait for X game to be out to buy it".
I mean I bought mine on launch day for 292 euros in France (and managed to ask a discount to Amazon for the broken joycon so got it for 260 euros).
Will you really get it for less than 260 euros when Metroid 4 get released ?
Some people even paid it 300 euros at Xmas, while I had it day 1 for less...
No offense but one should know that Nintendo products are expensive and are barely on discount, except for the 3DS because of it's (early) fail.
Switch isn't a fail, Nintendo won't cut the price until a long time.

Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade 2 and Odyssey are more than worth the purchase, hundreds of hours of quality gaming across those games.
While it may not be everybody's cup of tea, I've spent 170 hrs on Xeno 2 and could spend a 100 more if I didn't already finish everything. The game has one of the most fun and rewarding combat systems among all the JRPGs I played, though it takes a few hrs to unlock all the options.

TX OS 1.2 is out and is compatible with cart2 games.
@headshot : you wanna get a Switch just for a portable Dark Souls Remastered.
Come on you even BOUGHT the PS4 version, somehow you must be excited to play this game in your toilets, and for free ?

Nope but they are working on it.
I bit the bullet and bought a license. Not tested it yet though as i have ordered a jig as i cant be bothered trying the paperclip or tinfoil plus i have ordered a 256gb card as i only had a 16gb lying around.

I loaded a folder with the demos i wanna try and just hit 64gb.
Putting aside some extra dough for when my switch gets banned lol. Might have to unlink my accounts
