|
 |
I've never DL and burnt PS2 games so I need a little help.
1-do I need any modchip to run PAL burnt games on European PS2?
2-do I need any special software or media to burn a PS2 image, Nero or alcohol will do?
3-what about burning speed, can I burn at fastest speeds or slower ones?

1 Yes. Matrix infinty chip is what I would recommend.
2 NERO or any burning software will do.
3 Slower is generally better. But it really comes down to your ps2.

can you actually expalin me what does the modchip really do?
and why do I require it to play copied games, I mean do PS2 games have protections like those of the PC?

The chip just takes off the autochecking that's on the disk. Is it the slim ps2 or the older model?

actually I don't know.
a friend asked me to download Prince of Persia and NFS Most Wanted for PS2 cause he had bought a PS2 at a cheap price.
that's why I'm asking this. I had never used a console in my life (besides de the 48Kb )
I'm downloading the PAL and NTSC versions of both games, but as I'm in Europe I figure the PAL is the right one.
but besides that I have no idea what is needed, and what does the modchip means and does.
neither what kind of protections PS2 games do have neither how to bypass them.

If I were you I would get someone else to chip it. I don't think you've used a soldering iron before. The Playstation is the most difficult console to chip.
Is this the one he bought?
Or this one?
If you decide to chip it then you'll need to solder 18 wires onto the motherboard. This isn't for an amateur to do. I've chipped playstations for years. I must have chipped over 400 in total. I'm reluctant to chip my playstation 2.

I've never chiped a console, but I'm quite familiar with soldering electronic boards, electronics isn't my problem.
I only needed to know if the modchip was really necessary and how much will it cost him.
that matrix infinity chip, how much does that cost?

It's about £29. Use a 12 to 15 watt iron. Yes the chip is needed. Although if it's the top ps2 I showed you, then you can put in a hdd. It's more expensive and not as good.
