@Kaltern
It's a park sim.
What for do you need a good story?
I would imagine given the IP, there'll be a 'campaign' of some sort - I imagine the usual. Given Elite Dangerous has a serious lack of content, and their stpry is taking years to progress... I would imagine a good JW campaign should have SOME story to go with it?

The article states that there will be around 40 dinosaur species available when the game is released, although it’s reasonably likely that that number will increase over time with the introduction of various DLCs. For now, we know that the Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Velociraptor and Stegosaurus are all among the species confirmed to be in the game on launch, with a handful of others also confirmed, or likely to appear.
All those dinos need somewhere to live, so it’s handy that the game seems to have five separate islands to house them. All five of the islands from the Jurassic Park movies’ Muertes Archipelago will feature in the game, and lead designer Andrew Flethcher says each of them will have their “own special features,” based on their size and climate.
To advance in our given mission, we explore improved sniper rifles. We will soon need them for a helicopter mission, which is available at our newly built ACU center. Strange, the following statement suggests, but sometimes to open the gate of our Dinogeheges. We should put our action skills to the test as security personnel.
It does not take long until the Edmontosaurus seizes his chance and marches through the open gate. Chaos breaks out, it was clear! The park visitors run away, bring themselves to safety. In bunkers they seek protection. We quickly get behind the wheel of the helicopter and locate the fleeing Dino. The control works flawlessly and intuitively. With our sniper rifle we shoot stun darts at the Dino - after three hits we stretch it down.
Alternatively, we can leave the entire part to the computer, which then takes over the control fully automatically. The then arriving helicopter we command to bring the Dino back into the enclosure. We close the gate and finish the job. Breathe.
The developers told us that we can only fail if we run out of virtual money. Therefore, potential visitors do not seem to bother further when wild dinosaurs in our park go hunting for two-legged fresh meat.

Too bad.
Since this game probably won't be as popular as something like FC5, i hope we don't need to wait that long for the isodemo.
BoB you should know by now that they don't really go after popularity. It especially baffles me whenever I see that brought up in a place like this. Plenty of niche games have released faster than a current hot item.
Also it's JP, not like it is some obscure thing to begin with.
Pretty sure in one of their interviews they confirmed there will be no modding support, and were really vague on if they ever would. I just hope it won't feel too constricted by a narrative and grants you the freedom this type of game needs. I'll go look for the interview.
3:55 bit on player freedom vs narrative
5:00 sandbox question "players want many things"
6:00 modding question "modding isn't something we're supporting on JW:E"
Damn, that's quite disappointing, if there's a genre that especially benefits from the work of the community it's this one. I still remember the many good mods/additions for Operation Genesis back in the day, but..times have definitely changed. It's gonna be a game of waiting, for the yarr 1.0 and then for all the c̶u̶t̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶t̶e̶n̶t̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶f̶e̶a̶t̶u̶r̶e̶s DLCs to get released...eventually!
All that tells me is that they are focusing hard on the story mode. And while that's all well and good, and I'm looking forward to playing through it. After that, some kind of non-narrative sandbox-like mode is pretty much required in games like this... imho.
