Played Season 1 and it was.. mediocre.

I didn't like a lot of the voices, script was meh, gameplay was even more restrictive than usually (I think at least, I haven't played a Telltale game for 2 years..), choices didn't even feel like choices.. there wasn't even the illusion of choice..

Is season 2 any better?
What about Guardians of the Galaxy?

Played the first 2 episodes of season 2 and it's a lot better. More interesting characters (interesting versions of Joker and Harley and Waller is always nice) and it's finally the first Telltale game with somewhat modern graphics. There is still the occasional stutter, despite the framerate being at 60, and some robotic animations, but the sharp textures, PBR'd lighting and bokeh DoF, clean up the image considerebly.

Looking forward to playing the remaining episodes tomorrow.

Season 2 is MILES better than the first season - I played the entirety of them back to back and the difference is very evident.

- The episodes are longer and more intricate in terms of story. (the biggest plus for me)
-Quick-time events often give multiple choices in terms of what to smash the baddy into.
-The graphics seem fairly improved as well (same style, but crisper and more fancy stuff on top).

I highly recommend it. Felt kind of bad for yarring it, not to mention I had some problems importing my saves from S1 into S2 (because of Codex's stupid naming convention of calling it Episode 5). Even when I did import them successfully, some characters brought up things I never said, some variables were mucked.

Hope there's a Season 3 that continues improving!

Season 1 I had several intermittent stuttering issues (with a real bad one when I was in the Bat-Mobile and the scenery was zipping by outside). Most were negligible however.

Season 2 ran perfect.

Season 2 is actually very stable and almost zero stutter so far. The first season was quite unstable at times.

However, I didn't like the start in the game. The story is dull so far.

started playing season 2, this time i waited for them to release the full season, just finished episode 2 and while its still good i feel like im playing the same telltale game over and over.

would be nice if they ditched this engine and do motion capture, fucking stupid to see the same facial expressions in all of their games. would also help them differentiate themselves from all the other telltale copycats games

What's funny is that the other games have better graphics than Telltale's diarrhea.

For sure, but there's a reason Telltale get to play with all these licenses the others don't. They work fast and efficiently and always make money. Alas, the end result is starting to lean more and more towards mediocre than the impression their first few "cinematic comic book" efforts initially left.

Anyway, I finished it. Season 2 was a big improvement, I thought season 1 was unbelievably bland.

However, even though this was an improvement, episodes 4 and especially 5 were feeling off and disappointed me.

For one, I kept selecting that I trust Doe, and he is my friend and what not, which makes absolutely no sense given his actions, I just kept selecting it to see what it will happen. But it doesn't make sense, so I don't even know why it's an option. And unsurprisingly, in the end Doe keeps doing Doe things, which makes me (Batman) look retarded for trusting him. And in the end everything is blamed on me, even though I kept selecting I'm on his side. Sense.. this makes not.

Had I selected that I don't trust him and he needs to be locked up, the end result (which I'm sure is unchanged no matter what you choose) would make far more sense.

But it's not just that. Some other stuff, like how Harley and co appear as part of Suicide Squad with almost no personality, just spewing some one liners and attacking Batman, while in earlier episodes they had a lot of character, and an arc going for them.. Was this episode affected by budget cuts or what?

Ah, well. In the end, I'd say this was better than shit like Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones and Batman Season 1, but worse than The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands.

On to Guardians of the Galaxy now..

I kinda liked the GoT one. But it also suffered from the usual Telltale bullshit of fake choices being made and in the end they don't matter and the game makes you feel like you screwed up and it's your fault. No matter what you choose the characters blame you or it is implied that you made the wrong choices Laughing

That killed it for me, because it made me feel very very bad. In my playthrough of GoT I didn't accomplish a single thing. I failed at everything! Everyone was dead etc. When you play a game, you want to feel good that you are making a difference, that you are accomplishing something. This goes back to something as basic as Pac-Man. This game instead communicated to me "Nope, everyone is dead and it's your fault. You suck!".

No other Telltale game has been like that. Sure, in none of them the choices actually matter, but when the game ends you are left feeling you accomplished something. Anything! Not in GoT.

edit Started Guardians, hearing Iman Avesta as Gamora. Ah. Instant immersion break. Laughing

yeah its so stupid, im surprised people are still falling for that bullshit lol, no matter what you pick things dont change, even if the characters make you feel bad about the choice its still the same in the end

false ilusion because if they had a bigger budget they would made different paths but all they can do is make different versions of a dialogue

finished the season and it was good, hope theres a season 3

This (both seasons) is supposedly getting an updated re-release, to be revealed at TGA. https://twitter.com/New_WabiSabi/status/1205220241589952512

Batman Shadows Edition releases in January. Both Telltale Batman Season 1 and 2 together with small visual overhauls. You can now visit the Batcave whenever you want in both games. You can also customize Bruce Wayne in the Batcave, for example different style suits and can have a beard. You can unlock some more interesting cosmetics by finding new secret collectables. For example finding all collectables will let you play as Bruce in his underwear the whole game if you choose. Batman has no appearance cosmetics to collect, just gear (like the grapple gun)

Announced. https://www.trueachievements.com/n40114/telltale-batman-shadows-edition-leaked-the-game-awards

Quote:
LOS ANGELES — December 5, 2019 —Today, Athlon Games and Telltale Games launched The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition. Shadows Edition brings a sinister new look to the Telltale Batman series adding a noir-style visual makeover and graphical upgrade to the critically acclaimed and much-loved games.

The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition, which includes the Batman: The Telltale Series base game and new DLC, is available for players to purchase now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, Epic Game Store and Nintendo Switch™ for $29.99. Players who already own the base game can add Shadows Mode as stand-alone DLC for $4.99.

Earlier this year, Athlon Games and Telltale Games struck a new publishing agreement for five popular Telltale Games releases, including Batman 1 & 2 and Wolf Among Us, which are currently available for fans to purchase. One of the leading creators of interactive storytelling, Telltale Games titles represent a collection of unique and powerful story driven narratives that invoke fond memories for fans worldwide.

“We’re excited to be able to build and continue the legacy of an iconic Telltale Games franchise by launching The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition today,” Jamie Ottilie, CEO of Telltale Games. “This is just the beginning in a much more expansive plan to build on our catalog of Telltale Games titles, which we hope to discuss in further detail in the coming months.”

Batman: The Telltale Series cast players into the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne in a dark and violent original story and challenges players with discovering the powerful and far-reaching consequences of choice as the Dark Knight. As Batman, players will encounter classic allies and adversaries, and will learn the true meaning of what it means to be the man behind the cowl as Bruce Wayne.
