I like the new Vortex Hen for 4.55, it's more stable and I am glad for external support..
Despite the fact that I already have 2 TB internal one, and I prefer to have as much as I can use internally then to waste usb hub for external HDD, though I do use externals to install my stuffs.
Anyhow, looks like more progress being made in webkit up to latest FW:

IMO, Even If you can't get PS4 Pro on 4.55 and below you still should buy one at on latest FW at this point(I personally did it with my PS4 short time after webkit for 3.55 was released) I doubt it will take long for new kernel release as we all knew there are private kernel exploits on the wild and now that Hacking the PS4 is far more accessible for the public then ever, more hackers can explore for more exploits.

What's the highest firmware you can exploit. I'm looking at getting a PS4 Pro.
I know of a console on 5.05 or should one just wait?

Try to Get one if you can. If you can't get 4.55 and below get ps4 pro and just don't update any further.

5.50 officially released, the webkit exploit for 5.0x is reported to be still working. all we need is someone to publish his private kernel exploit now

Hopefully the kernel is still vulnerable on 5.50 though to the same exploit they are using in 5.0x
Edit : seems not. Doesn’t mean the kernel is not vulnerable to some exploit though.

As I said before, If you want Pro, it's better to get one now, its more of a matter of when then if at this point, you might wait a bit, but it's better then to Knock your head how to get hackable PS4 pro when it's actually getting released...

Is there a list of games that are 5.0 but under 5.5?

No stack 5.50 been sold yet on stroes.... I guess most PS4s and pros are ranging between 4.55 to 5.0x(which kernel exploit probably gonna be relesed soon).

5.50 is so far only userland exploit, kexploit was patched as jackq said early. since it was patched i assume we will see it soon in public for 5.05

there is still no reason to upgrade to 4.55 if your are on 4.05. but if it ships with 4.55 its not a bad thing

Does that mean we can expect to see all modern games working? I don’t want to throw down money for something that will only play old games I can get for cheap!

Hacking 4.05/4.55 just to play 4.55- games is more then enough for now,you also get the ability to run cool stuff like hombrews...
Eventually it will change though.
The past proven over and over that that higher fw riq to block pirates from playing newest games doesn't hold on forever, same with PS3,PSP and now Vita(now 3.65 games can be decrypted and 3.67 also soon).
Once the console is hacked, it's entry point to reverse and find more exploits, for now, we can't play 4.56+ games, but we all know it will be change whatever kernel for 5.05(or even 5.50) will be released, or someone will find an exploit to decrypt these said games.
IMO, 5.05 riq will only last from few weeks up to year, but not that much after that,depends how much it will take to release it to the public or another method will be found.

either set a specific dns (you will find it) or use al azifs exploit hoster (have it running on my old pi1, attached via usb for power and via a short ethernet cable to the ps4; so i could use it self-sufficient anywhere i want to and not connected to the internet anyhow), power on the console, wait about a minute, open the settings,manual, click on the payload you wanna use (xvortex-hen in this case), it will say welcome to hen, press the PS button (<<-- IMPORTANT, wont work otherwise) and wait again a minute (those minute waiting time prevents a kernel panic which leads to instant shutdown of the console and the need of rebuilding the database which in the worst case ends in losing your savegames). now every game you have installed is unlocked (install fake pkgs just via settings -> debug options)
