I hate stat based shooting. I prefer a system where you unlock weapon mods and perks. Not the shitty perks of the Far Cry series, actually useful RPG style perks.
Yeah but in a shooting game, you are going to always have the advantage over AI opponents. So it might be hard to replicate the feeling of you being shit at the start.

If high tier AI opponents have body armour and helmets then you will need appropriate weapons. So some areas will be out of your reach until you level up, like in the Gothic, Baldur's Gate series.
I would love a Mad Max style RPG-FPS hubrid. (Like Oblivion with guns!)
Far Cry 2 had the right idea except they fucked up implementation.
They should just do a Kingdom Come Deliverance but it's Far Cry 2.
Shooting will have to be stat based to an extent until you get to level it up.
You start as shit and slowly work your way up to number one merc.
That would be incredible...take FC2's semi-realistic approach and grittiness of the experience, remove the repetitiveness of the entire thing, enhance the dynamics and implement a reactive AI, a punishing progression and proper physics without annoying colorful HUDs and gamey gimmicks. There, the perfect Far Cry!
[Evil laughter coming from Ubisoft's lair] "Hahah you fools"
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I remember buying FC2 on release day naively expecting a Boiling Point with good production values. Played it for half an hour at most and never turned it on again. Luckily, managed to find a buyer the next day already.
That guy in the Cheeseburger problem video makes a good point. I'm sure their design mandate was for non-stop action so that the plebs don't get bored (whatever would they do if things went 5 minutes without an explosion?). But that is going to get old pretty damn fast. I'd also much rather have some stretches of quiet time.
Who exactly are you going to convince to play this in coop? I know my friends aren't going to play 2 missions with me, then the exact same two missions 1 hour later by themselves.
It usually starts like that, though I wonder if it'll be like AC Origins.
UPlay unlocks, weekly rewards and then store only content though periodically made available from the Heka chests at really low drop rates.
EDIT: Or whatever this game will have instead of Heka Chests, K-K-Krates I guess.
Looks like Far Cry 3 reskinned. The more I see of it, the less excited I get about it.
Those physics are off point all the time though, you hit a guy with an arrow from the back and instead of falling forwards he falls backwards. Pieces of shit.

Hah well if it's anything like the Far Cry 4 editor the limitations are pretty restrictive so doing more than simpler shooting galleries might prove to be difficult. It's a bit like the DOOM snap-map though FC5 might end up being a bit less restrictive with how much you can build before it stops you.
