Couldn't we instead have just gotten part 2 of mgs v?
The story seems so pointless and it's annoying to see so many reused assets. I guess it could be fun in coop, but get ready for some serious microtransactions.
Yeah but Quiet came much later. You had an entire segment first with Raiden running around entirely naked with a low-FOV close-up camera view in Metal Gear Solid 2 years earlier ha ha.
And then in MGS:V before you can get to Quiet you have to sneak around with Ishmael while keeping close to avoid detection.
Though it's the Smash games I believe where this particular detail really stands out.
EDIT: And then for the original game I think Sniper Wolf was originally topless but this was changed, instead you can sneak into the women's bathroom and have a talk with Meryl.
EDIT: And I guess there's also Eva and The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3 doesn't work, or Ocelot for certain reasons.
Hah well the entire series has some quirky characters I suppose, Quiet stands out mostly because Koijima had this thing about justifying her appearance and then the game has the various rain and shower sequences and the camera and poses in the helicopter transition screens.
(Which turned into a bit of a meme and then various character swap mods appeared.)
Guess that was just Kojima and team though, trying to get away with as much as possible while balancing between a serious realistic stealth game and then absurd humor and the fourth wall being completely torn down.
For the FOV question itself at least on PC it should be moddable unless the game is completely locked up with anti-cheat triggers and similar, getting ReShade and other utilities to work in Metal Gear Solid V is a real pain due to those.
EDIT: After all it is kinda stupid to have the character model block 1/3rd or more of the screen area like some games do because apparently FOV has to be 45 - 55 degrees and no more.
(80 - 100 horizontal tends to be more comfortable, or 60 - 75 vertical if I I'm remember it right, probably a bit off.)
And to think what could have been had Konami not become completely fascinated with ball games and gambling.
Fox Engine was already used to promote Metal Gear Pachinko Solid Snake Eater or whatever it's name was with scenes from the games so remaking the entire trio would have been fantastic to see but it probably won't ever happen.
Silent Hill and Castlevania probably got the same treatment too although for Castlevania the Lords of Shadow games likely did more harm than good particularly the second game.
Whereas for Silent Hill that was Konami and Kojima feuding ultimately seeing P.T all but completely erased in the process and now it remains to be seen what Kojima will be doing with Death Stranding I suppose.
A return to form or more weird attempts at cinematic story telling and self promotion. We'll see I guess. (Game will likely be console exclusive though but it'll be interesting to hear more about it.)
Konami are not worth any money at all for this kind of laziness. Three years later and this game has the same basic issues at TPP. The interaface is still terrible and requires multiple loading screens to get in and out of the game. There are still no settings for volume. Mouse isn't fully functional in the menus. Fuck that!
Wow, 79% POSITIVE reviews on Steam.
Not sure if i should be disappointed, or if the game really is not that bad.
its the usual "Zombie Coop Survival" addicts ... and this game has MGS5 core gameplay at its core so that automatically makes it superior to most of the "Zombie Coop Survival" titles
It’s actually a lot of fun but a bit frustrating at first due to the super fast deteriorating hunger/thirst meters and it’s rough with this throughout so far it seems like. At the same time it almost adds to the charm of the survival element however.
It gets tougher rather quickly unless you spend a bit of time to lvl up at least a bit and explore to get new recipes which will yield new/better items. One on one it’s not a problem but you add in a mob and you either need to reach some high ground ( which works great) or back it up and use a bit of strategy unless you plan on running away which is possible too.
I loved the mgsv gameplay and to me, this just works for this type of game. I’m no Kohima fan but I don’t hate him either. Entirely neutral and just gaming for fun not drama.
If anyone has any questions let me know and I’ll answer as best as I can.

Who cares about gameplay. It's one of the few next-gen looking titles out there so BRING IT ON.
"Microtransactions were available in Metal Gear Survive right off the bat, and come in the form of Survival Coins, or SV, which are entirely separate from the kuban energy currency you’ll earn through simply playing the game. Survival Coins are used to make purchases that can affect not only your current Metal Gear Survive character, but they also open up additional options in the game, for example you can unlock a second character to play through the game with for 1,000 Survival Coins from the main title menu of the game."
